New TF B-25 ARF?
#1
Read in this month's Model Aviation that Top Flite was going to release a new B-25 ARF. Anyone know anything more? By the looks of the prototype in the photo in the mag, should be a beauty.

Searched both TF and GP websites for any hints - nothing so far. Intrigued by the new TF Staggerwing and have one coming... hope the B-25 will be similar in quality and engineering.

Check the warbirds section.
It is top-flite. The B-25 will be available as both an ARF and an ARC. Greg Hahn has been flying a prototype at various events around the country including Top Gun this year.

Top Flite are keeping quiet about this one. I live in Australia and had the importers called the HQ to find out specs and how soon can I get one. To reply was, no specs, no idea about release date in the US or Australia.

I have the Nov. Model Aviation here @ my desk - Page 19, bottom right corner. Plane looks to be about 7'-7.5' wingspan. The caption reads "Greg Hahn, with wife Susie, connects the flight batteries to his electric-powered Sport Scale B-25. Top Flite will soon release this model as an ARF."
They are standing it on the wingtip and you only see the bottom of the plane.
Looking at it - it is very "sport-scale", does have inboard and outboard flaps, and separate aileron controls - 6 wing servos. Looks like it has oleo struts, not sure if they are functional - does not look like it is retract-equipped, although there might be working doors. If I had a scanner here @ work I'd scan the pic.

Little follow up - it appears there is another pic on page 125 - shows the B-25 in flight - in this pic the gear is retracted. States the plane won fun Scale Open division at the 2006 Mint Julep Scale contest in Kentucky. The article states that it will be a Hobbico ARF and should be out by the time I read the article - go figure.

latest issue of FLYRC has a pic of it over at this years Warbirds over Deleware. Article states it will be a GP Arf? Last i read it was a TopFlite ARF but like its been said, its the same people
Wonder how it compares to the ARF from KMP? Either way its a welcomed entry into large twin warbirds for us ARF'ers

To me it sounds like the magazines are making up stories. If Top Flite have no information and there are acticals stating that it will be produced by GP and Hobbico, I think this is all load of #@*!. I'm putting money on it that there is no B24 ARF and ARTC being released.

It's a B-25, and it will be be available in ARF and ARC form.
But they cannot say exactly when it will be available due to manufacturing, shipping, quality control, etc.
Same deal as the Staggerwing. It was delayed but is now available.
Greg Hahn didn't say the brand name, but who really cares, as long as it gets here.

Being as it was origianlly stated that it is a Great Planes(same as Top Flight), the price point will probalby be cheaper then KMP due to volume and size of company as a whole. The KMP plane is really nice for $650, but my estimate is that GP or TF(whatever brand name it ends up being) will sell for probably 2/3's of that or less.

I have a B-25 ARF from KMP....not too complicated to assemble, and an excellent flyer with a pair of Maf 91 4 storkes..only one complain..the replacement paint dosen 't match ...other then that.it was ok...Of course I had to wait 3-1/2 months for the retracts...suggest when this B-25 comes out, make sure the retracts are available..Retracts are robarts......................................

A top flite B-25 should be a great plane. As for the comments about the magazine stories, you just never know. I did notice in my just arrived copy of AMA's Model Aviation almost a full page ad for a new Topflite Cessna 310. Yet there is no mention of the plane on Top Flite's website. We will just have to wait and see.

Lets hope the wing loading is lighter than their (Topflite's) new Cessna 310 ARF. Pushing 50 oz per sq. ft is asking for trouble, especially with one engine out in a small twin.

I AGREE THAT THESE are the gear for the long anticipated TF B-25... Tower usually does not carry landing gear for other brands it does not distribute or promote...
KMP is out of B-25s for quite some time until the molds get re-tooled and upgraded...THE new KMPs will be ALL COMPOSITE including the wings with more details!!
TF may have a nice summer if they get this B-25 by late July!!!
Cheers... and here's to another Awesome Warbird!!!

It would be really nice if they did get it out soon...especially while KMP is retooling....would give TF/GP a good head start.
Tower carries a whole host of retracts from Robart and Century Jet for planes that Tower does not carry. Same with Horizon. Almost all planes that Horizon carries that have retracts are mechanical. Same with Tower. Why then would they carry a full line of pneumatics? Because modelers like us that want them. It has nothing to do with the specific planes they offer for sale.
In any event, all we're doing is speculating at the moment. Be nice to see the B-25 available and no more guessing. I am sure you all agree.
