Default Hinge tape?

Anyone use hinge tape for the ailerons etc?

I tried to glue my ailerons on my Kyosho Spitfire 40 ARF with the CA and it set immediately in the wrong position. I have had to cut off the aileron with a craft knife (cutting the three tabs). Now I am a bit nervous to try it again with the tabs in different location in case it happens again. I came across a specific product by Multiplex. It would also seal the gaps.

Any good for my ARF?

Cheers.

You can't use hinge tape on that plane. It will just come off and the plane will crash. Try DuBro nylon hinges that have a cotter pin in them. They are a little thicker than a ca hinge but you glue them in with Gorilla glue or similar glue. It gives you plenty of time to get them right where you want them. After your done hinging then use the hinge tape to seal the gaps.

Good Luck,

Gibbs

Thanks Gibbs.

I managed to fix the aileron using some more tabs. I will use the tape as suggested only to fill the gap between the aileron and wing.

I've used packing tape on an aileron on a .40 sized profile without ever having a problem.
