hi, i have got a Great Planes Christen Eagle II with a 1.60fx that i am yet to maiden, the question that i am asking is, what sort of thrust does as 1.60fx give, and would it be ok for this 15.5 pound plane, its 15.5 pound (7kg) dry, ready to fly, it seems to be one of the lightest eagles around compared to others in the giant scale thread with gas motors on theirs weighing from 16-20 pounds
, my question is, will the 1.60fx be ok for this 15 pound plane? im not expecting unlimited or even, great performance, as i know it will lack a fair amount.

This engine will hover an 11 - 12 pound plane with a decent pullout. It will fly the Eagle but not with any authority. If your looking to just putt around the sky then you'll be ok.

I use simmitar 17x8 on a GP giles, the combo is around 12,5 lbs. and it rocks !
this engine has the power to fly a 15 pounder easy but it is a thirsty engine, it goes thru a 1/2 galon every 4 flights ! I guess that is why people go to gas and that is why I do not fly it often, here in Los Cabos you pay 70-80 dollars per gallon if you have no one to bring it by land from the states !

Depends on throttle control, too. After thinking about it for a while, I guess his estimate is pretty close. It just sounded high to me after he worded it "a half gallon every four flights". At any rate, the 1.60 is a HOSS of an engine.

In an easy day you may squeeze 5 flight on 1/2 a gallon, but that is max !!
I do run it a little rich, but on an enclose cowling FX 1.60 does not like it and heats up fast!
I may put it in my CG Pitts monster since I burned out my YS120 with the wrong fuel, both can handle the scimmitar 17x8 well.
enjoy.
ps: I run it with 10% nitro and 18% oil, there is not such a thing as, "Too much oil" in Baja`s sandy/dirty soil!!

Oh yeah, you will like it in the CG Pitts Monster. It's a tad bit too much engine for that plane, but it's a BLAST to fly! I had mine in the Monster (RIP) before I got the Extra I have it in now, and it was awesome.
