I want to have to power this plane with a 2 stroke to save the cowl from getting chooped. Instructions call for a 40 size engine and i was wondering if a 60 would fit in the stock engine mounts and if anyone has one with a 60 size in thiers.
thanks in advance

I just started looking mine over the last couple days. Planning on using either 46fx or 52fs being borrowed from another plane. I don't care for the engine mount, only clamping the engine down,so will replace it.

im also wondering if the 61 will fit in the stock mount; or if i will have to replace it. I have a 46 fx, so that is an option too! Let me now how it goes. I cant finish mine for a month or so cause im moving.

I have not tried either of my engines on the supplied mount as yet as not going to use it so not even sure if they would fit. My 46fx does have a pitts muffler on it tho & plan on using it.

I bought a os 61 fx and a slimline muffler. Am replacing the stock engine mount. Will start next week and will let you know how it works with that combo. Still thinking about dual elevator servos and putting a hi-tec hs 55 in the cowl for throttle.

I have a 46fx in mine with the stock muffler. It only required a modest hole in the "teeth" to fit. The plane flies OK with it but the vertical is limited (it is not going to go straight up out of site) and I had to add a lot of nose weight. I have another sport cap 232 coming in and I am thinking about the .61fx or the MDS .68 to power it. For the mount I have been using the same mount on all of my planes and I have not had any problems.
It is a great looking airplane and it flies nice. Have fun.

I flew mine until yesterday with a 46 FX witha Pitts and to me its a pig, no real power anywhere to pull through moves and crappy vertical. I am looking for upgraded power shy from buying a Saito 90 for it. Maybe a GMS or MDS will do right.
the plane is a bit heavy and a 40 will be enough to fly it around but thats it.
pics of it on my website

I have a Sport Cap with an OS 50SX and this is working out well. Didn't need any extra weight to balance ( I have a 1400mah battery under the fuel tank) One of the "guru's" at the club took it up the first time - said it has plenty of power. Unless your looking for extreme performance consider this engine, it fits the stock mount. I did cut the cowl a bit aggressively to make sure I have good air flow, but the same concern exists with the other engines also. Hey.. good luck

I just got one, and I have a YS 45 not doing anything, so I am going to throw it on there. It will be about a month before I get it flying because I need a flight pack for it, but I will keep you posted when it finally flies.

My last post on the engine ( 2-5-03 ) was before starting to assemble. I did end up using a 46fx w/ pitts muffler. Also used supplied mount but drilled & taped for engine bolts & took a lot of nose weight. Ended up being a great flying plane.

I mounted a Tower 75 on mine and plan to fly tomorrow.
The CG was perfect at 4 3/4 from the leading edge - tank empty.
I mounted the engine as far back as the Dave Brown mount (1.40 FS) would allow.

Tower sounds like a strong combo-
I had mine with an Irvine-53 and it flew great.... It is now hangin' up until I stumble across a 4 cycle for it-
Great deal and great flying plane-

I have an Irvine 53 in an Extreme 330 and it's JUST barely strong enough. Could use a bit more - but it hovers OK.
I can't wait to fly the 75 on this CAP!
I'll post tomorrow night after flight (assuming no rain).

My new one has a Saito .72 sitting up front but I have not flown it yet. I can't wait to see how it compares to the .46FX in my first one. After about 60 flights and several dead sticks that didn't make it back the planes still keeps flying. I even broke the wing in two on a tip stall trying to make the runway. The plane is really tough but the .46 doesn't have enough juice to do the IMAC basic sequence with any grace.
One of the guys at my club said to me while we were watching some giant scale aerobats perform was that they don't crash much with those planes because they have enough power to get out of trouble. The .46FX in my CAP has made that very clear.
With or without lots of juice the plane is still fun but keep the speed up on landing.

I have been flying the Tower 75 and I can say that I haven't used more than about 75% throttle in the air. I am only flying Basic IMAC. It takes off with about 50% throttle.
Nice to have reserve throttle in the air!

I have a sport cap that i am starting to put togther next week, I am putting a gms 76 on it, I have heard this plane is somewhat snappy on the elevator like the real caps, could some one tell me if the low rate setting per the manual is too much or how much travel you are using on your elevator thanks rickey
