Waiting on spring weather going stir crazy sitting in this cabin. Any other alpha trainer owners out there that want to talk about there planes, setup, having joined their club, etc.
I do have two questions for now.
1) My wing is 11 1/2 " front to rear, will #64 rubberbands work? Do I put 4 on each side and then 4 crossways totaling 12?
2) My lhs said that other flyers run a hangar9 4 stroke super plug in the evolution motors? I already put one in and it seems to run ok, except for I still have to fine tune when it gets warmer.(An evo pts engine)

Hey johntammi,
I've been flying an Alpha 40 for almost a year now. #64 rubberbands will work fine, I think your strategy of placement will work fine too. The default glow plug for the Evolution engine is the super plug, but I've run mine with an OS #8, and it works just fine too.
One thing I have to ask, did you get the RTF version of this plane. If so, then you know that they say to use tape to put the wing halves together. I flew it like this several times and everything was OK; however, I recommend that you epoxy the wing halves together eventually (sooner rather than later), because it is a known weak point with the plane design. Eventually glow fuel residue will attack the tape, and make it worthless.

Thanks for the response, I already epoxied the wings. I hear people mention they fuel proof the firewall, is this necessary and how do you do it. I put a 2" rubber extension on my muffler to help shoot the fuel past the wing.
