Anyone out have their t-craft completed did you use the supplied tail braces? They seem awful big and bulky for this size plane. I was thinking of changing them to music wire or cable.

I thought the same thing. However, look at the picture of the full scale one on the box. Those seem to be rather heavy also. Anyway, after looking at the picture, I decided to go with the supplied braces and they work very well. I did buy a Sullivan flying wire set to use just in case I wanted to, but didn't open the package after studying the situation.

Put mine on today, yep they are heavy, but match the full scale. Wait till you get to the struts, so much fun. Neither strut was the same length and did not match up to the pre-drilled and mounted blind nuts. Nice generous slots on the struts, but not enough. I had to shorten one of them and re-mount the bracket with the slot. All in all, this is a fairly nice arf, not trying to bash H9 here in any way. Just need to improve some quality problems with the struts, maybe let the builder handle that part.

I'm lucky,my struts mounted up in no time, just some adjustments on the slider.Did anyone else's instructions say that the Holes were predrilled for the wing dowels? How about drill bit sizes for various steps, seems the sizes they gave me never worked out right.

Well I haven't seen the model but I know the owner of the full size and have seen the plane many times and yes the tail braces on the full size are big. The picture you're talking about was taken in Concrete WA and the person that's in the picture is the one that use to own it and restored it. I've seen the owner (Harold) fly it and it's enough to make one drool all over them selves and to walk around it leaves you breathless as it's so beautiful!!!!!

Well, I guess I'll use them then. Don't know if I got line up problems or not. havn't got that far. I'm putting a strobe light on the rudder and landing lights between the landing gear(don't want to tear up the wing, it's so puuurty!)

GrnBrt,
I've seen some press stating this TCraft was modified after Margaret Ritchies' air plane. But there quite a few things that don't match. Do you know how to contact the restorer I would like to ask some questions as I am scratch biulding a 1/3 scale TCraft. I have all the Ritchie documentation, but that plane is pretty rough & it would be ashame to have to copy all the dings & dents. Margarets' plane was a bare bones no frills arobat. This Craft would make a much nicer example. Thanks in advance for any info. J.W.

I am replacing all struts on mine with K+S streamline aluminum tubing.
The wings will have 1/2"
the tail group -5/16.
This requires some bits of aluminum to be epoxied internally in the struts -K+S 1/16" sheet stock--
I have used this stuff before and it looks very pretty and is very light -
Should you be interested in more beef in the wing struts (not needed ) slide CF or spruce stock thru from end to end.
