I'm currently traiing on a tower trainer, however I have a 0S .40 engine that needs a home. What would be a good arf plane for this engine. I'm looking for for two things. A good second plane and something that is relatively inexpensive.

Sig 4 star, Hanger 9 Twist (tamed down to start with), Goldberg Skylark (my favorite out of all), Tower hobbies Up-Roar, Tower Kaos, any "stick" style plane. All of these are GREAT second airplanes and I have personal experence with all of them.
If you are using a 40LA the best choice would be the up-roar. The Up Roar is a light weight plane ands will perform well with a smaller engine.
If I was swapping engines and moving up I would slap a 46, 50, 55 or 60 into a skylark.
I know there are others but the small 40 engine really needs a small airplane to enjoy.

In my opinion, the best flying plane for the money, and I think they are still $69.99, is the World Models Sky Raider Mach II.

A lot of guys at my field have flown them with Thunder Tiger .42GPs and LA .40s.

Jeremy,
Really give the Sky Raider Mach II a hard look. It's a tail dragger and a really great flying plane, I don't think you will be disappointed. You can find them at airbournemodels.com. Good luck!! Ed is right, they are still $69.99 plus shipping.

I just won a Skyraider in our club raffle. I'm going to re-cover it but I can't wait to get it in the air.

Another vote for the Skyraider Mach II. I had an Evolution .40 in mine and it was good enough - fast, very maneuverable. It's built light and is a fun flier. At 70 bucks, it's hard to go wrong.
Another candidate if you don't mind doubling the price is the Sig Four Star 40.
Either one is a solid choice.

Thanks for all of the advice! I looked into the Sky Raider Mach II and it looks pretty good. I think that I may be ordering that one in the next day or two. For the price and some of the reviews I've seen, it looks like a good fit.
