I have this really nice FW-190 ARF that my dad gave that he got at a swap meet. It's a .60 size with retracts wood frame with printed foam covering. The only identifying info on it is on the gas tank says OK Models. I know they make kits, but did they make this ARF. If not them WHO?

OK Pilot was a Japanese company that made printed plastic covered foam models.

So it can't be a OK model plane. Any thoughts on what other companys made planes like this? It seems to be and older plane.

It sounds like you may have an old EZ-ARF. I have a couple of them stored away from way back. They were sold through Hobby Shack back in the 80's. They were state of the art at that time. Nice flying planes that went together well. I have a few of the warbirds and I believe they did have a Focke Wulf that was available. They were sought after by collectors but I haven't seen any for sale in a while. I think MRC started selling select models and may have parts but I'm not sure www.modelrectifier.com Here is the P-51 that would have been in that series. I hope this helps you out.

My bad.!

Its the old EZ FW190 ... has a very slim fuse, not very scale, with pretty thin wings. The plane is covered with thin foam sheeting, a printed paper like material then finished with something like mylar. EZ's factory burnt down somewhere in the 80's I think so some planes are no longer offered. The accessories are usually by OK Models ... like the retracts. Maybe OK Models is their supplier.

I think your right your P-51 seems to have the same engine mount as mine. Looking for a cowling for mine went to a web site "stans fiber tech" They listed cowling for your p-51 and a few other planes from EZ but no FW-190.

Those Fw-190s were made by the same manufacturer and sold under a variety of brand names. A few were Great Planes, EZ, OK, and Lion Models (the same box was used and sold in Europe as Prafa). I've seen both the Lion and Great Planes FW's. They came in two seperate schemes, one grey/green and one all green. The earlier grey scheme had more pronounced weathering.

That particular plane wasn't mine, but other than the scheme was identical to three of the FW's I've had. The cowls were cheapo plastic and are long since gone. I flew my planes with cowls from Stan's fiberglass. Stan sold the company, but they still can be found at stansfibertech.com

Just tell them you need the cowl for the Great Planes FW-190. I know when Stan had the company the quality was very high, the cowls fit perfectly, and I never had a problem with any of the cowls I bought from them.

I flew my planes with several different engines, from KB to OS to Towerhobbies. The manual recommends engines .40 to .50 in 2-stroke and .48 to .70 in 4-stroke. I never used a 4-stroke on this particular plane, but I recall the Tower Hobbies .46 flew this plane with authority (my flying site was no more than 80-100 feet above sea level at the time).

As for the CG I went with what the manual recommended and never had a problem:

"Accurately mark the balance point on the top of the wing (next to the fuse) on both sides of the fuselage. The balance point is locate 3-3/8" [85mm] back from the leading edge next to the fuse. This is the balance point at which your model should balance for your first flights. Later, you may wish to experiment by shifting the balance up to 3/16" [5mm] forward or back to change the flying characteristics. Moving the balance point forward may improve the smoothness and arrow-like tracking, but it may then require more speed for takeoff and make it more difficult to slow down for landing. Moving the balance aft makes the model more agile with a lighter and snappier "feel" and often improves knife-edge capabilities. In any case, please start at the location we recommend and do not at any time balance your model outside the recommended range."

[8D]I have the GP green version. Great flying plane, but the printed foam covering makes repairs almost impossible. Mine has an ST .51 in it and has maybe 40 flights over ten years. Flies great, but I have trouble with the landing, but then again I have trouble with the landing of anything. I just got back in the hobby after six years off, and I'm back to a trainer, World Star 40. Some one at the field said that my landings were the most exciting manuvers at the field last Friday.

Cowling is on the way. Flown the plane once took a guess on the CG and was wrong at power the evolution .61 pulled the plane passed are clubs radar gun at 123.2 mph. Later that flight the engine cut out. Being nose heavy made for a bad landing and broke the cowing. Thank you for all your help!

We had 2 of the EZ Chipmunks, flew good, but would snap on landing if you got to slow or used to much elevator. EZ was the beginning of the ARF era. Tough to repair them with that foam covering and printed on color scheme.

What are the throws on your FW-190? I know I have way to much. Do you know where I can get a copy of the manual?
