Anybody out there had any experiences with Yellow a/c ARF's? I am thinking about getting a Sukhoi or a Cap 232 would appreciate some help. Thanks

I have the 30 size Sukhoi... It's big, so a .46fx is what I'm going to power mine with. I haven't flown it yet so I'm not sure how well it flies, but the quality of the ARF is great. The only thing I don't like is the cowl.. I think it should have been made stronger and the fit is bad.

I have a .60 Cap 232. Very nice aircraft. Probably the best quality and best flying plane that I have.

They do a great job with the packaging also.

Default Ohh....ahh....Yellow....

Can't help but love the planes. Between JeffC and I (flying partners), we've had the 120-size CAP, Extra, and Sukhoi (the Sukhoi will fly next month), and the 60-size Extra, Giles, and Sukhoi (the Giles and Sukhoi will go fly in April). We love these planes. I've hundreds of flights on the Extra (with a Saito 91) and it flies great.

Feel free to peruse our site with quite a bit of flicks of Yellow planes at:

I had the Extra (72" wing-120 size with a Saito 180) and the quality is hard to beat. The finish was imaculate! They are a bit different from other ARFs in that they are built very solid. The problem with this is that while it makes them very durable, it also makes them a bit heavier. Even with the bigger engine I still had to add quite a bit of nose weight to balance. Still flew good though.

Default Extended fuselage

They extended the fuse 1.5 inches to help with the balance problems that where occuring.

Default Yellow Sukhoi 30

x86guru,

Did you finish the Yellow Aircraft Sukhoi 30 yet? How does it fly with the OS .46FX? I have a 46 FX laying around and am thinking of ordering this plane to put the engine in.

Let me know how it worked out for you and how well it flys/performs, and any other helpful info that you may have.

Thank you very much.....

Scott

Juhan,

I know this is off topic, but I went to your web site and looked at some of your videos. I just about split my sides on the Crazy 80s "Hummer Glider?" when you tried to test glide that plane without the motor running. That was hilarious!!!

Also, with all the planes you guys lost it's amazing that you stayed with the hobby. Thanks for sharing your videos.

Default Makes me giggle constantly...

Between Jeff C and myself, we must have built and crashed hundreds of planes in the mid to late eighties. We would build PT-40s and Sig Hummers in tandem and together on Thursday/Friday nights and smash them to oblivion on the weekend - rain, snow, wind, whatever nature threw our way. We giggled constantly. How could you not?! (Well, don't look at the biplane video...what scared me there was that I borrowed that engine from Jeff and I was sure it was going to be toast...it survived the crash). Jeff's classic line from that era of flying was, "Take a good look at them now, because in ten minutes, we'll show you what's left of them."

We religiously took our 8mm video camera on our weekend fly-fests. We've got hours and hours of belly-busting material from full throttle fence post hits to 20 foot tall splash downs in swamps to blizzard-like condition flying (and of course the warbird maiden voyage which lasts all but 35 seconds...).

I'll eventually digitize that material....just writing about it makes me smile. Thanks Keith for stopping by the site - Hope you enjoy it!

If you have a fast internet connection, the flicks download quickly. If you want to see our Yellow Aircraft CAP 232 aftermath video and don't mind downloading a 10MB quicktime file, here's the romp in the woods to find the plane:
http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/Cyberia/peo...bris_crash.mov

Jeff was doing knife edge loops when he stalled out of the bottom turn...and with high-rates on, he stalled again...we were only flying one-mistake high...dang!

Best flying,
Juhan

Default cant help but laugh..

Well.. I have to say that i'm glad that our flying styles and abilities have greatly increased so we are no longer destroying planes at the rate we were. Back then we were going broke on buying planes and zap... now we go broke buying fuel... it's a better trade off..

Juhan / Jeff C,

How did you like the Yellow CAP 232 (72" WS)? Any bad snap tendencies?

Thanks.

Default Cap 232

This was my first cap that actualy made it over 20 feet off the ground.. Way back when we had no idea how to set throws since we tought ourselves how to fly.... so I was a bit nervous on her maiden flight.. I set the throws very small.. even less than the mins that were recomended.. The plane flew great.. I want to get another one ...After getting used to it.. I cranked up the throws.. and thats what finaly got me.. I was using high rates during a knife edge loop.. I rolled out at the bottom of the loop.. and still had high rate elevator.. and I mean like 3" of throw.. she snapped ... I had no idea why at the time.... tried to recover ... she snapped again... end of story... I now work my way up on setting throws.. I find you get to the point where it takes full stick to snap. Cant wait till I get the next one.. It should last me alot longer..

I cant say enough about the yellows.. The quality it great... I'm working on the 60 sukoi at the moment...
