What is everyone using for a pilot in their planes? I saw a lot of the standard pilot busts at hobby stores. I was wondering if most people go with one of those, or maybe something a little more fun like an action figure. Show us your pilots!

I HAVE to fly with a pilot in the hot seat. Nothing looks worse to me than a beautiful plane flying around with no-one in it! *shudder*
Even worse when the plane is scale...
I am looking for an 1/8th(ish) scale WWII USN pilot bust for my K F4U. If i cant find one, im off to the toy store to get one as close as possible, and perform some surgery on him
Good luck on finding your man....

Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers movies is going to be my pilot in my next plane. Should be pretty funny, I also have a Mr. Bigglesworth to put in the canopy with him.

I have quite a few of the World Models 40-sized pilots (the two that crashed my WM T-34 live on in other planes). I also have Buggs Bunny in one plane and a Dinosaur (the head and arms of a T-Rex) in another (my son's idea)

I had a Simpson's figure, "Barney" in my 4 Star. Cut him at the hip, and he was the perfect size. Even had a bucket of beer in the cockpit with him. Looked great! But, I sure noticed the weight. I ended up taking him out. Perhaps I'll stick him back in when I put my Saito 100 on my 4 Star.

My Rambler .45 just had to have Barbie. Cut her off at the waist, then photo'd her legs and glued the picture in the bottom of the cockpit so it would look like she was all there. Looks great and she's a competent pilot. Gets a little chilly on winter morning'd though.

I'm working on this, getting close to making it work. Take a dowel of appropriate diameter, cut it to a proper length... then, take a digital photo of someone "special", and size it so when you wrap it around the dowel you have that person (well, in stick form anyway). Add a cap or helmet from the toys we all have laying around and your set.

I have a bobble head Krusty the Clown, but I don't have anything to put him in. I also have a few Tick figures from the old cartoon, maybe I should put the Man Eating Cow into a plane.

For the serious warbirds I like those *soft* pilot figures, I think Horizon supplied, that I have to paint.
For smaller warbirds I use heads that I carve myself.
For my 101" Bipe, I have a big Teddy Bear with old helmet and goggles.
For a number of other models up to a 72" 300, I use those Barbie clones that are found in the $ stores. I like to adequately alter their dress to display some nice well exposed upper torso units.
Lots of options out there for sporty models.
