I just finished my DP extra with the da 50 for power and it has worked out to a nice combo so far.It comes in at 14.3 pounds with the da 50 and didn't have to add any weight to the tail.If the the weather is nice this weekend the fun will Begin.

Yes I used the stock muffler on it and it did take some cutting to fit it.I also had to move the firewall back 1/2 inch back so it would fit right.

It was easyer to move the firewall than to buy new standoffs and cutting a 2 inch hole in the firewall. It only took about hour and half to to move it seeing how when took the brackets off the firewall fell apart anyway.

Ok, I see what you're saying. I guess that keeps the gas out of the inner compartment too...
I guess moving the engine back a tad helped with the balance too.
If you ever get some pics of how it fit with the cowl, I would love to see them.
Jim!

ICI,
You were certainly right about moving the firewall back to fit the DA50 under the DP Extra cowl.
Tried to squeeze it. Even ordered some standoffs from aerografixs.com I can't wait though....
Heading home to shave off 1/2".

I have one 5645 on each airleron with H9 prolinks.I also put cross braceing in the airlerons the stiffen them up and add 8 ca hinges each airleron.I have 5645s on each elevator half with H9 prolinks. As for the batt. i was doing good until i put the true turn spinner on then i had to move the batt to the tale.So i have ordered a lighter spinner form airwild.

I have a similar setup on my DP Extra. DA 50, carbon fiber gear. My weight came out to 15.5lbs dry. I have a hard time believing that there could be 1 lb difference between two of the same kit. Is yours a first edition or revised with the canopy mounted on the large turtledeck? I tried to keep the weight down. Single aileron servos, twin hitec 645s in the tail (needed for balance), and NO extras (not even a pilot.)
I've only flow it twice thus far, but wow! what a combo. More than enough power. In fact, my initial impression so far is that the huge torque effect from the engine makes it harder to fly with precision. (22x8 zinger break-in prop.)
Just my input.
