Default 3rd plane, first tail dragger...

Currently using a low wing tricycle gear model which is keeping me entertained... Have made a good deal for a mustang but feel that I should get some time in with a different tail dragger before I attempt the Mustang. Anyone with some suggestions (other than Sig which aren't easily available in Aus.)?

I really enjoyed all of my WM Rambler-45s. Built in retracts, too. :-)

Default Good Tail Drgger

I agree with jbh. The World Models Rambler would be a good choice.

To view these models, go to...

For the Rambler specifically...

A really nice World Model is the Super Sports .40 for $99. But it is a tricycle gear model. Convert it to a tail dragger !

Default Hmmmm...

So I'm right in thinking that the mustang may be too much of a plane at the moment?

I have a Dago and it was my second airplane. Believe me it is way too much plane for anyone except a very experienced flier! Very high stall speed, touchy, and very fast. Try a Thunder Tiger Lazy 51. I really like mine and you can fly it fast or very slow. It's a great all-around do-everything airplane.

I would say no to the Dago Red as a 3rd plane but the World Models P-51 Mustang 40 size is not bad. Personally I didn't find it that hard to go from a tricycle landing gear to a taildragger.

Really you are the only person who knows how well/confident you are when flying. If you feel very comfortable flying your current plane then maybe making the jump wouldn't be so hard. If you are in any way unsure about flying your current plane then hold off for a while.

Heh, I was waiting for the your the only one that knows answer, just needed to hear it I guess. I think I'll stick with buying it but put it under wraps until I know that I can get it right at least 95% percent of the time (5% left for hardware error LOL). Thanks all for your input.

No problem. Smart move picking up the plane when it is a bargain and putting it away for later.

Where in Australia are you? I grew up in Rockhampton and lived the last 10yrs in Sydney. Now I am in the San Francisco Bay Area.
