Default Nitro 2 stroke for a .40 Twist

Looking to purchase a new engine for a .40 Twist I have sitting here. Wondering what would be a decent engine that will hover and do 3d for around $100 to $150 price range. Something with enough power to pull out from hover. Was considering a .55AX or possibly a .60 os lokking for opinions on these and other engines. Thanks Dave

I have an OS .46 AX on my Twist and it easily hovers at half throttle. I also have an OS .55 AX on my Ultra Stick. The .55 AX definately has more power but the Twist is so light that the .46 AX is more than enough for any 3D.

I have the .46-AX on my Twist and it is a nice combination. It will pull vertical until it is out of sight with no sign of slowing down. The .55-AX would be even better.

Thanks guys. I will probably purchase a .55 AX that way if I want I can run it on the Twist for a while. Then maybe stick it on my 60in chipmunk and put the .46fx I have on the chipmunk on the Twist. I Kind of thought the AX would do good just making sure. The .46 fx pulls the 9 pound chipmunk around pretty darn good. Do the AX engines run as good as the FX series, realiability wise.

Both my .46 and .55 AX's have been excellent. They started easily and idled perfect right out of the box. The only adjustment either has needed was a little leaning out of the low-end once they'd ran a while. Neither has ever quit in the air. I see a lot of guys at the field fighting with low-cost 2-strokes; I think that the AX series is well worth the extra cost compared to other engines. I was going to put a 4-stroke in my Twist .60 but I may end up ordering the new .75-AX.

Sweet nice to hear it always scares me when companies change over to new motors. I friend is trying to get me to put a 4stroke in my twist but I like my 2 strokes. I am going to spend the money for the .55AX Thanks Chuck

Why would he want to. The Magnum weighs 15.7 oz. and has marginal power at best. The OS .55 AX weighs 14.25 oz. and is capable of making the Twist go ballistic for $20.00 more.

The new Enya .61CX would be worth a look.

It's the same weight as an OS 46AX @ 17.8oz with muffler.

I have a 46AX on my TWIST. It has plenty of power. I took the Evolution .46 off of my Ultra Stick and replaced it with a .55AX. The difference is stunning. I have found the .55 to be very reliable and to my surprise the motor is much more fuel efficient than the Evolution 46. The .55AX is a winner.

I am thinking about building a new Kadet LT40 for training - the old one is looking a little worn from use. . If I do build a new LT 40 I'll put a .55 AX on it. Should be a perfect match.

Thanks for the info Bob. Is the bolt pattern the same for the 55AX and 46AX

Yes, the bolt patterns are identical.
