most 1/4 scale aerobats are too small for gas.

The Lanier Edge 1/4 scale is a very nice flyer. Don't put a gasser in it.

You want a good 1/4 scale arf for a gasser? You can not go wrong with the GP Patty Wagstaff Extra 300s. 110 pages and 2200 posts. All the info you need on an excellent plane and 90% of the gang are going with gassers.

I agree with 14th_reaper, the PW extra 300 quarter scale is one heck of a nice plane. I have a Lanier edge 540 with a Saito 150 that is also a great flying plane, but I had to go through a lot of crap with Lanier after the gear broke off on the second landing because of delaminated wood that the gear was attached to. Even after the gear problems, the plane is one of the best I have ever had, but you don't want to go to gas with it. The PW is the best way to go for gas engines. I have friends with them, one with a Brison 2.4, one with G-38, and even one with G-62 (a bit much), but they all fly great.

Depending on what you are looking to do, either a 1/4 scale aerobatic ARF is good (H9, Lanier, GP, others) also some of the newer Sport ARFs that are coming out are nice. Most are a little smaller than 1/4 scale but still nice.

SKY-JIVES:

WHY NOT TRY TO MOVE UP IN PHASES, If your are in the 40´s climb to 90´s and then to 1/4, maybe even jump to 120 4-s with a extra 300 from golberg, what about an ultimate biplane, place an OS 91FX and then a YS 120 or 140 and finally to a 1/4 scale, you even can put the YS 140 on your first one, after that you can try your first gas engine.

just my tip!

Hey, put me down with the Hangar 9 Patty Wagstaff Extra-300. It's the best ARF I've ever assembled and somewhat better than most kit builders can build. Great quality/service and it flies like a dream. I would recomend the new DA 50 for power over the heavier engines (with less power per lb. than the DA). Why mess with a good thing? Like previously posted, do a search on "Patty Wagstaff" and check out the awsome opinons. - Did I say I love ours?

I have to agree, I do like the GP Giles 202. I am looking at my PW Extra and while it looks good, I am not liking how the wing attaches. I think I am going to have issues with the 4 bolts!

Kangke Texas Hurricane and 40-50cc engine , nice combo.

If you want to go gas don't even think it do it once you're in Gas you don't want a glow aircraft.

Hey epc,

Looks like you are sold on gas and the Texas Hurricane. I have a Texas Hurricane on my short list and was wondering which ZDZ engine to go with - a ZDZ40 (25 Lbs of static thrust) or ZDZ50 (33 Lbs of static thrust), both weigh within a couple ounces of each other. Can you tell me what you are flying in yours and what the total aircraft weight is. I want enough power to be able to rocket out of a hover.

Thanks,

Go with the 50 ,Power is always welcome if you can manage your throtle.

I have a 3w 42 on mine since that's the engine that I had and the power is good , with the 50 should be awesome.

I gotta agree with you guys about the Hurricane. I've got one with a Brison 3.2 22/8 pro zinger and my son flies one with a Brison 2.4 20/8 pro zinger . Both have unlimited vertical, and will 3-D with ease.
