Default Quickie Richmodels

first flight with factory CG was nose heavy!

Broke the gear mount in the canard tips and the prop on landing 7 knot head wind.
My elevator throw High rate was greater than the manual and sill not enough!
It flew OK on a OS .50 SX jett engineering turbo-jett incowl muffler.
Roll rate was good on high rate, loops were very big considering the CG.
Turns were wide needs more elevator!
Had plenty of rudder authority!

After dogging the arf seller for 1.5 years, I still have 2 left hand wheelpants!

Once again Chineeze Kwality at its best!

Recalled pet food!
Recalled toothpaste!
Recalled tires!

this ARF should be recalled !!!

We've documented the Quickies quirks in this thread:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_50...Quickie/tm.htm

Properly set up it is a fine flying airplane. I've probably got 20-25 flights on mine by now, each flight just gets better and better....however.....I haven't tried any aerobatics with it, just extremely fast high speed runs with the little Saito and a bit of slow flight. The landings are no longer a problem. Patience will win in the end!

Flight two on my Quickie 40:

CG relocated at 2.8" by adding 3/4 oz lead to tail (first flight had 1/2 oz on it)

original landing gear has been removed due to internal damage....

Revised landing gear similar to Dragonfly, wheels have been moved forward compaired to stock, no tip overs.

increased elevator throw to 5/8 new prop installed 11x6 APC same as before.

it flew OK rolls slow on low rate Rudder very good. loops too big, inverted flight needed lots of elevator.

Ok still nose heavy, fly around burn fuel to lighten the nose.

Landing approac speed good sink rate too high. Ran out of elevator !!

CRUNCH !!!!

I told the guys at the club I was not expecting much from the $125 mistake!

SCORE: 2 for 2 ( flights / repairs needed ) ready to scrap the airframe!!!

I just saw Rube's thread ... OK one more try...

The landing gear tore up the canard a little on inpact needs repair.
CG will be moved aft to about 80 mm more lead!
F2 will be cut to move fuel tank aft closer to CG, back ent of tan will be at 80mm CG.
Fuel tank will be moved aft it is now between F1 and F2 .
elevator throw willl be increased.

If test flight 3 is a total waste of my time... there will be a bonfire sometime this weekend!

My bobcat 50's manual had CG incorrect too. ( off by 3" or more)

Is this typical of Chineeze ARF'S ???

Do Richmodels and Nitro planes rely on RCU reports CG placement? [:@]

Bummer!

Well, if it doesn't work out for you, and the plastic canopy section is in good shape let me know....I might be a buyer!
