Hi guys...... somebody is selling me a Hobbico Cessna 182 model HCAA 2950 from 1989 at a great price.... new in the box (just the kid, I have to put the servos, engine and receiver)... never assembled but it has almost 20 years old!!!! is it the same thing than a model in these days????? I mean.... can I fly it as if I bought a new one in a hobby store????? by the way seeing the picture of the open box... do you think that is the body of the plane or just half????? is that complet???? they are selling as it is.

Yes it should be fine. Look it over real good. Make sure you check for lose joints. Sometimes the glue over years can lose its strength.

I had a trainer that was over 15 years old. I took it apart for parts because the balsa started to have fuel rot everywhere under the Mono-kote, and I didn't want to take any chances.
The Goldberg Eagle flew great all the way until the day I recycled her. (RIP) We all love to see old classics at shows!

Hi, thanks for answering and I am sorry for the stupid question
..... but... if the plane is 20 years old.... does it have the same "engineering" of the actual planes or it has been improved and I shouldn't get this old plane???? thanks

It's probably manufactured from plans that haven't changed in 40 years.
Very little new engineering has shown up in the last 50years of modeling. At least, changes that would make any measurable difference.
That looks like it might be a Hobbico model. They're probably doing that same model the same way right now. Only today, I think they do the manufacturing on the mainland instead of Tiawan.
