Default Started building the Seagull Ult.

As the heading says I started the Ultimate this week. My inpressions so far. The Ultracote covering is very nice. One of the best ARF cover jobs I have seen. The cowl has even got a good paint job. The stripes on it don't line up with the stripes on the plane but I expect that on an ARF.
Some of the hardware is junk but for $200 I expected some of that too. If you guys have one throw away the bolts that hold the mount to the firewall along with the blind nuts. Also throw away the bolts that hold the engins to the mount. The bolt thread is to small. I stripped out a few of each with a small screw driver. I also am not sure of the tank hardware. The supplied tank and stopper look OK but it uses plastic instead of brass fittings. I decided to try it but will keep a close eye on it. I have also found one mistake in the manual. When it comes time to mount the cowl it says to line it up with the marks you previously made. No where in the book does it tell you to make or where to make these marks. If you have done a few cowls before you can wing it. The front of the plane is ply so the screws can go anywhere.
More later as it goes.

David
