ARF for .15 nitro?
#1
I have a OS .15 sitting around with a reciever and servos just waiting for a home. I want to convert an electric ARF but most seem like a nitro engine would rip them apart. Anyone have a suggestion of a good WELL BUILT ARF of a Extra, Edge, Yak, Bi-plane or even a Cub?
Thanks,
Chris

Horizon sells a Seagull Extra 300 electric that I converted to glow. Just added a thin piece of ply to the fire wall and removed all the electric mounting stuff. I have a OS.15CVA, 8/4apc and a 4oz. Tank. Flys good. I did it sort of as a joke but nice little plane .

Nice Extra, Thanks for the pics, I'll look up the specs on that. I like the looks of Goldbergs new Laser 200 45" ARF. If its about the same size I may look into it. Anyone else have any suggestions?

I put an OS.15LA in this little Global Wattage Ultimate Bipe a few years ago. Like Cyclic Hardover,,, it was sorta half for a joke and half boredom. Turned out to be a killer flying little acrobat. Just don't get it too far out of sight.[:-]

I kept saying, I'd like to take one of these and stick a glow in it. After a couple years of saying this, I did it. I have 4 flights on it and no regrets.
The CG is dead on and I usually fly my planes a tad nose heavy, this balanced out right on the money and acts weird so I may add some nose weight to see what happens. I had a T6 once like this and straightend out after I added a bit.

They have a nice little extra for the .15. I had one and it was a great flier. It did a really cool inverted flat spin. The plane also had a nice looking bottom.
I used a magnum 15. I will post a couple of pics.

Take a look at the Herr Lil' Extra also. Tower sells them for less than $70 and they are beautiful and a great flyer as well. There are several threads on this plane over in the 1/2A section. The .15 is the perfect power combination for it. I built one about a month ago and love it!

Ive flown the .40 size something extra and dont like its large chord wing--it doesnt fly realisticly, so the .15 size is out too. I really like the look of the yak, extra, edge and bipes. Horizon is coming out with a Pitts model 12 that is .15 size but not til november. I cant wait that long.
Thanks, keep the suggestions coming.
I'm gonna be in Columbus OH thurs night so I'm going to visit some hobby shops and see what they have. My local shop didnt have anything that excites me.

Count me as #3 for the suggestion of the Herr Little Extra. @ $65 it's a BUY. Flying mine electric with an E-Flte Power 10 and it is an absolute bullet at WOT, yet will fly around with low power holding full up elevator to the point it gets into a repetitive stall.....which is always just forward. NO tip stall tendencies at all with this one. Just a blast to fly.
And yes, I also have the 40 size Somethin' Extra with a Saito 72 for the days I want to carry paper towels and cleaner.

Hey Cyclic Hardover, where did you get the pitts muffler for your CV-A at? Link if possible would be greatly apreciated.

I had one problem with it at no fault of Jtec, Since I mounted the engine inverted, the screw holes inthe muffler were off a bit. They were more than happy to patch up and re drill the holes. The whole service with Jtec was great .

If it's flying, it's "realistic".
It just may not be flying as per a full scale airplane which is another matter.

Another option in the Mini Ultra Stick by E-flight. I put some triangle stock behind the firewall and stuck an OS FP .15 on it. Super fun plane, I highly recommend it!
