Mini Pulse XT gone glow!
Just thought I'd pop you all a note if anyone is looking for a small glow powered ARF, this little guy is great. I had some time last night so I put togther my Mini Pulse with an OS FP .15. Maidened her today and she flew great! Takes off in about 10 feet and flies like she's on rails. By cutting out the battery subfloor, I was able to fit a Dubro 4oz tank in for 10+ minute flights. It's a great looking plane and with an OS .15, It's almost as quiet as electric.
Cheers,
Dave

Similar ideas here, and while we wait for the pictures from MiniPulse, here is one to see with 2.5 cc Old Italian Super Tiger;
just to confess that the Batterias are the most expensive "fuel" in RC; who was that who told us that the baterries are the
future, maybe they are but we are not living in the future yet indeed.
Cheers,
Nick

RE: Mini Pulse XT gone glow!
Sorry guys, I'll try to get some pics up as soon as possible (this weekend for sure). Work has got me running around the country so I haven't had a whole lot of down time.

I have an OS FP .15 sitting around looking for a home and I purchased a Mini Pulse XT.
The Pulse now has a 480 sized motor and I get 15-18 minute flights on a 20C 2200mAh LiPo pack, and it flies like it's on rails, so I'm not about to switch it out...
but the Pulse would have been a great home for this engine...

RE: Mini Pulse XT gone glow!
I have more than 10 glow engines and only one electric just to make the point that still
we should not be Intentionally Blind about the advantages of the Electric ones, for example
it is hard to imagine to have the hardware on board to Re-Start a small glow engine in the
air as easy as the Electric gets On-Off-On ... just like that.
Frankly, depending on how quickly the battery cost goes down, bigger and bigger engines
might stay on the shelves for the time being.

Yup, batteries are the big issue, and their costs keep going down...
I'm quite pleased with the performance of the Pulse with the 480 motor and feel no need to change it.
It's just too bad that E-Flite seems to usually undersize their motor requirements, leading to less than steller behaviour.
I guess this is usual with the manufacturers...
With a larger electric motor the plane does great...
I had exactly the same experience with the Super Sporster EP... replacing the motor with a 500-600 watt one has resulted in flights so good and long ( 25 minutes with an 11v 3800mAh LiPo pack ! ) that I'm quite often asked "what do you have in there!".
As the battery pack prices go down, I find myself looking at bigger and bigger electrics... though I still like glows/gas.

Where are these pics?
Anyway,
i can think only 2 problems that may occur whil;e converting to glow!
I bilieve that an OS 15LA would be adequate!
1st problem will be the size of the tank that can be fitted to the fuse and
also
2nd if the firewall needs to be re-inforced with a piece of ply glued in the existing (i bilieve thin) firewall!

Take a look in Tower Hobbies for the Herr Lil' Extra also. I built one of these and installed an OS .15 CV-A in it and its a blast. Great knife edges, a roll rate that will make you dizzy, vertical as far as you dare to go and it too flies like its on rails. This one is priced right and is already built for glow. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFWM2&P=0
