Engine Cooling ? I think I have this problem ! Anybody else ?
How did you solve this? (GMS .47). Without chopping the cowl to shreads?
Thanks for any advice...

hhhmmmmmmmmm dega vue all over again

I flew mine with a OS46AX to begin with. Retrofitted an OS55AX to see how it'd do pulling that 6lb 5oz bird around. Neither engine ever broke a sweat.

If the off-side intake is left open, the cool air that comes in will go straight to the hot air exhaust openings and actually crowd out some of the hot air trying to get out. Cool air is easier to move than hot air. And cool follows cool. And hot air gets left where it got hot. And it just gets hotter and less easy to move. etc etc

But either block the unnecessary cool that's going to screw up the works, or divert it toward whatever needs to be cooled and the cooling system works better.

See the baffle in the useless side? It's a piece of polystyrene insulation that weighs zip. It is also very easy to sand and fit. I think it took me 5 minutes to fit it and epoxy in.

I've not had a problem on takeoffs since getting the timing right for advancing the throttle. Experienced fliers usually start the takeoff run with partial throttle on all their models. I certainly do, but this model still gave me fits. It's vertical tail doesn't seem to start flying forever. So I basically start the takeoff run like I was going to taxi down the runway. And then feed in throttle until the tail comes up. It's solid as a rock from then on, and especially so if I continue to simply feed throttle.

There really is no need for any of our models, with their high power loading and low wing loading, to ever require a sudden blast of power to start down the runway. Roll into the throttle an very few airplanes will act up. (pun intended)

From your mouth to my fingers ! LOL ! What works for me is : FULL UP & BLAST OFF !! [X(]About a two foot run.. and airborne ! I will try your method after I replace the ground down tires ! LOL ! I have used the "Holding. Excellerate and Release" method with success. Of course, I have to give the guys in the Pits a "Heads Up" !
