Default Transporting DP Ultimate 1.2?

How are you lucky people that own one of these
getting them to the field? I have a Chevy Venture
van and would like to know if it fits in a van that
size, in flying form. Don't want to be taking apart.
I have a Goldberg 54" Ultimate that fits, but one
bigger??? Want one bad, but I have to be able to
get it to the field.

A friend has a dodge ram truck and his fits inside the bed assembled. My astro van won't accomodate mine.

I'd also like to know how folks are transporting theirs. Is anyone carrying the Ultimate assembled in anything other than a pickup bed or trailer? I'd buy one today if I could get it to the field without having to take the wings off and on every time I go out to fly.

Geeeze......it is not hard to take the wings off the plane. I have a Plymouth Lazer Turbo....it is kind of like an Eclipse. I can get it in the car and close the hatch. it does help to have wingbags. I use a 3/32 balldriver and a 1/4" ignition wrench and can have it ready to fly in minutes. This plane is worth a little effort.

I have only 1 thing to add here. In the past, when I was a teenager, I would often transport and store my planes in ready to fly form. What I found was that by not taking it apart and assembling it at the field I failed to inspect them well. I rarely saw the inside of the fuse, thus never checked pushrods and servo/battery connections. I also failed to frequently check the wing bolts. This, I believe now, lead to quite a few crashes.

I have had not 1 airplane that took more than 10 minutes to assemble. That includes my DPM Ultimate 40, which I believe may have 2 more connections than the 120 size. The aileron interconnects.

I did then and still do drive a 78 Bronco. most any plane will fit assembled. None get transported that way though.

Mine get transported with the wings wrapped in a blanket in the back on the floor secured by a bungy net and the fuses on the back seat secured by the seatbelts.

I have the plane and the Venture Van. No it won't fit complete, but you can get away with only removing the top wing. I got a rope with 'S' hooks and hook them over the rear window bar at the very back. You have to put tail in first and rest it on the headrest of the middle seat in the second row. It just fits. Put some pillow foam between wings and windows. Oh yes, plane is upside down as well.

Although it works, sometimes I think I might just take both wings off. Good luck

Well, here's a picture of my Dave Patrick Ultimate in my Acura MDX sport utility. It fits right in just fine--the only problem is that it is the ONLY plane I can take to the field this way! I'll probably end up removing the wings just so I can bring another plane with me.

You'll never fit it in a CRV. You need a REAL wide opening like on the MDX or Pilot to fit it with the wings on!

Hmmm, a new truck, or a few more minutes of assembly? My wife wants to get a Honda Odessy anyway. When that happens, I will be set!

It fits in a Venture van! Didn't think it would but it does.
Rongreg had his at the field last weekend and we gave
it a try, and in it went. I think I need to do some shopping.
