Default Modeltech p-51?

I've been thinking about getting one of these. Does it perform well with an OS FS 70? Are the retracts it comes with any good? How does it perform in the air? Thanks

It should do well with an OS 70. However, the engine will be a tight fit. I had one with a Saito 72, and the engine was almost touching the firewall. The Saito 72 is slightly shorter than the OS 70 and lighter. Therefore, you will have a tougher time mounting the OS 70. You will also need to add more lead to the tail to balance the plane. The retracts that come with the plane are OK - they work. The plane is a pretty good flyer, but don't expect spectacular performance out of it with the OS 70 since the plane weighs a little bit more than seven pounds and has a relatively thick wing.

Interesting. Is that the .40 or .60 size one? I figured that the 70 would work in the .60 size since i'd heard about people using a 91 FS in it. Anyone else know anything about this plane?

Actually it is advertised as a 46 sized plane. I fly mine with a Saito 72 and it performs very well. I cut out the stock wooden engine mount and put in a plastic one instead. I also swapped out the retracts for some century jet mechanicals. The plane flies great but I think I would go with a World Models next time around, the quality is just a bit better.

I was referring to the .46 size ARF in my post above. The .60 size ARC has been discontinued for a while now, and it will be way underpowered if you use the OS 70 in it. The plane is at least two pounds heavier than the .46 size one.
