Has anyone here had one of these?
They claim that it will hover with a standerd .40
Well, will it? Before I buy one, I'd like to hear from someone who has already assembled and flew one.

Check out the threads in the funflying forum. I have one that will hover at less than half throttle on a .36. You can get alot of info on modifications, pics, etc there. I think there is also a thread here in the arf forum. They fly great, anything with 700+ sq inches of wing on 4lbs or less would. You should brace the tail with flying wires, and dont mount the battery pack under the fuel tank by the firewall, because it will be extremely nose heavy. It does have a tendancy to nose over and tip on the edge of the wing on landing in wind, due to the weight, and the flamingo legs it has for landing gear. All in all, you cant beat it for $90-99.

Here are the specs on mine:
OS .46 LA with APC 12.25 X 3.75 prop
30% Coolpower Heli fuel
All JR 517 servos
600 Mah flat battery under fuel tank against firewall
Weight without fuel is 4 lbs. RTF
1/2 oz lead in the tail.
Balanced at 4 7/8 " from leading edge with Great Planes balancer
If you want to learn how to hover, this is the airplane for it.
In fact, it's what this plane does best.
With the stock CG you could teach someone to fly on this plane.
I want to move the CG back some more. Next step is probably 5 ".
Right now, it will almost enter an inverted spin. I think the CG just needs to go back some more.
I put 40-60% expo on all the flying surfaces. It has worked out well. The roll rate is great. You can have almost zero airspeed and still roll out of any situation.
Negative pushovers, SUCK !
My plane just does not like to push out from inverted.
If you want hover, pull to idle, pull full up, bring the throttle up just to hover , stear with rudder, and use the ailerons to keep the wings level.
The stock landing gear do NOT like to be abused. I wrapped mine with copper wire and silver soldered all of the joints. It has worked out well.
I used a pull-pull system on the rudder and elevator, not the stock metal pushrods that came with the kit.
Today, I was in hover and the vertical stab started swaying left and right, it came loose just from flying. I think the blender entires might have had something to do with it. Glued it back together with thin CA. Stiff now.
Have fun!

The Magic is a really good plane for the price. Yes it will hover with a 40 sized engine. I have a TT pro 46 on it right now and it will hover at about 1/3 throttle.
I had 2 Sig SE's last summer and could not hover them as good as I can with the Magic. After some time you will get comforable with the plane and will be able to hover easily.
Right now I can hover about 10' off the deck right in front of me and keep it hangin there for 20+ seconds.
It is a really fun plane to fly.
