I am trying to find out the maker of this 40 extra ARF. I think it is a discontinued hobbico and am looking for a cowl to fit it that has the engine and dubro kwikfill holes in it.the were both put in at the factory I also believe

Looks like the GP 40 kit. Right down to the canopy shape and single nylon bolt. ARe you sure its an ARF?

OK mabey it is if it has a single bolt .If it was a kit the guy who built did a really fine job. I picked it up at auction in Toledo Weak Signals show and am really impressed by the coating job. Bad thing is I cracked the cowl instaling radio&battery so I may need a new one soon.

Looking at it more I'm pretty sure the outline and all aspects of the fuse look just like my .40 kit. Stans Fiber Tech sells a nice cowl for this plane. You can get a modified one from him that conforms to the fuse sides.

Thanks Fly I now agree after downloading the manual that it is indeed a GP 40 kit and thanks for the tip too. Any suggestions on setup of this plane since you had one?Got CG at 4 1/2 in right now.

My only real suggestion is to hog out the aileron servo cut out so you can fit two servos there. I don't remember where my CG is, but but follow the instructions and no matter what do not exceed the recommended elevator throw until you get comfortable with the plane. Yes, it is like 1/4" throw but the elevator is very responsive.
