Default Looking for a home for a .46FX

So I was going through a closet the other day with a bunch of RC stuff and came across a nice OS .46FX that I forgot I had. I can't let it just sit there! I haven't built anything in a few years now as I've been slacking on my RC flying. But I've recently got back into the hobby and a lot has changed in two years alone. I'd kind of like to build a kit. Something fun to fly. I'm kind of leaning towards the Great Planes Ultimate .40 size bipe. I have a Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 bipe with an OS 1.20 Surpass on it. A small bipe would be fun too I think. Anyways, are there any other recommendations? What's been popular in the .40 size planes lately? I have a Sig Something Extra and an Ultra Sport 60. So, I wouldn't be interested in either one of those. Thanks!
Matt

I know you said you were interested in building a kit but the Hangar 9 Twist 3D is a blast to fly and quite cheap. A buddy of mine hasone with a OS 46 and it RIPS!! It is one of the best sport planes I have ever flown and just an allaround fun Plane. I believe the kit is only $98.

Mayb check out the videos on the H9 Pulse XT plane. I know, its an ARF but what a flyer!!! It can knife edge at slow speeds and then rip around like a screaming rocket with a 46. Should be lots of fun. Santa brought me one and I am working on it now.

Fastky, suggest you use 6/32 nylon bolts to mount the gear. I did as Doc Austin did and I`m glad. Bolt heads just shear right off in a bad landing. You`re going to love the Pulse!

Thankx for the advise. I all ready planned that when I saw what was in the kit. I found out from one of my previous planes that metel bolts can come loose and start to unthread themselves in flight![X(]

That or they really tear up your plane on a bad landing. I had a Goldberg Extra 300 about 7 years ago. I used some metal bolts to hold the gear on. I had a dead stick out over a rough field. The landing ripped the gear off and did a lot of damage to the fuselage too. Pretty stupid of me.

Anyways, thanks for all of the recommendations! That Hangar 9 Twist 3D looks pretty fun! How do you think it would compare to my Sig Somethin' Extra? They look a lot alike. I have a .46FX on it too. I'm not against building an ARF if it looks like a good one! I like the covering scheme on that Twist too. As for the Ultrasport 40, I already have an Ultra Sport 60. It's my oldest plane. About 8 years old. Somehow, I've managed to never wreck it.

The Twist 3D was my second plane actually and I flew it for about three years. Finally dumb thumed her and now working on a World models Ultimate 40 I got two Christmas' ago. I'm retiring in 14 days and then I'll go ahead and finish it up. I'm using the OS 46FX I had on the Twist and believe me, it will fly the Twist fine. I'm using the muffler that came off of a Tower hobbies engine though, don't know it that makes it more powerful or not.

Welcome to retirement land. I'm 63 & been retired 12 years. I don't know how I ever had time to run a business. The first couple of years were the busiest. The whole secret--- Pace yourself
