The aeroworks .60 edge 540 is one great flying plane. I powered it with a Tower Hobbies .75 and i used the supplied muffler. I can fly staight and level at full power and give full up evelator and the edge gives a very tight loop with no wing tip stall. I then cut the throttle to idle and kept giving more and more up elevaltor until the plane stalled. the edge stalled straight foreward. incredible. Every other stunt type aircraft ive owned with a tapered wing always gave me a wing tip stall at somepoint and I have crashed a many planes because of this.
I did get it to wing tip stall on me when i used high rates elevator, but i took a couple of tries. The first couple of times the edge would do this porpoise thing when i applied full evelevator. The plane would just do this pumping thing the whole way thru the loop. Like I was pumping the elevator, but i was holding full up elevator. But no tip stall.
I'm just your basic sport flier who likes a good stable flying airplane. I tend to fly planes like a super sportster or a big stik because i can just fly them around and crank on the ol, elevator or try to sqeeze the last bit of air speed when landing without stalling. The aeroworks edge gives me a nice looking acrobatic plane with the confidence to bank and crank and to give me a good glide path for landing without being to worried of a stall.
I flew several flights with a APC 12 x 6 prop but the plane too fast for this type of stunt plane. I then used a APC 13 X 4W. The edge now flies a bit slower and has better vertical. I fly at 4000 ft. and the Tower hobbies .75 would pull unlimited vertical with the 13x4w prop but it was a slow climb. you 3D peeps would want a .90 size engine.
I bought this arf staight from aeroworks in nov. 2007 and the plane now has a bigger fuel tank and the old issue of the fuselage breaking at the foreward piont of the wing saddle has been resolved. They installed a ply doubler to the inside of each fuse side at the weak point. Its a pretty beefy patch. I sure it will no longer be a problem.
The arf was just over 200.00 shipped to my door. Other 60 size arfs are cheaper but the aeroworks is worth it.
