No ,it was not as windy as it sounded on the video ,the conditions was ok () I am working on strengthening the landing gear attaching plates ,and hopefully i will fly it again soon. I have some more videos from the flight that i can upload ,but i am sorry about the quality [)]
How is it going with the assemby of you asp? It will look great!

Niels, I have this plane, and I fitted a RCGF 65cc single gas engine, all worked out fine, the only concern that I have is the CG I have no idea where it is, as I have no manual. Could you give me the CG that you flew at.
Thank you in advance

RE: Pitts s12 Jamara ASP 400 radial ARF 175 cm
Hi Nils
I have not had the time to do anything on the model lately, but now its on the workbench again. I have looked the model over, and had some thoughts about these;
1) the tail wheel and bracket seems a little cheap to me, the bracket is made of GFK. Also the wood and gluing where you mount the bracket needs some extra/new epoxy.
2) The landing gear on mine is made of GFK (its painted black) and it is very soft - if I bend it a little it makes a creak noise. Maybe it should be replaced with a BOLLY CFK or aluminium one.
3) the cover needs ironing
4) What do you think of the engine mount box ? Should I put a layer off GFK on it for extra strength ???

Hei
My plane has soft landing gear to ,made of gfk ,but the biggest problem was the weak attachment in the fuse ,i had to strenghten it. I dont use the tail wheel ,only the braket as a skid.
The engine mount box was strong enough for my asp 400.
The asp was in the heavy end for this plane i think , so i have bought a crrcpro gf50i for it ,it is much lighter than the asp ,(i had to shorten the nose to get it balanced with the asp) . The plane will be over a kilo lighter with this engine !

How did it fly ? Was the landing gear strong enough? Mine is still on the building board ,fixing the wings. I have also strenghtened the fuse in the front where the gear is attached.

I had the first succesful flight at saturday with the crrcpro 50cc engine installed. I have strenghtened the front area where the landing gear is attached with plywood plates. So i landed it succesfully ! The Pitts is difficult to land ,but now that i have had one landing ,i hope i have learned something

RE: Pitts s12 Jamara ASP 400 radial ARF 175 cm
I flew mine saturday, weight is 7,36kg + 400ml fuel. I still need a spinner in the front, but I already thinks its a bit nose heavy for my taste. I flew it with the 22x10 G-sonic Pro prop on the DL-50 engine, and there is more than enough power, vertical is nearly unlimited. When I fly 1/3 and adds full power the plane rolls a bit, because of to much torque from this setup. Maybee a 40cc gasser would have been more like it.
I will try a 23x8 prop, to see if it helps. I did not do any 3D, but I am pretty sure it can with 45 degres on rudder and elevator.
Landings is fairly easy, BUT - after the landing I did not have any rudder function :-(, so I opened the canopy and saw that the hole servo-box for the rudder was brooken off. Actually I think it happend mid air as I was doing some edge flying. But how do they think that a servo-box intirely made of balsa would hold a 12kg rudder servo in place !?!?!?!?
I have epoxied 2 layers of glass fiber all over the area now. I also reinforced the landing gear area, and it holds nicely.

I have not flown the gf50i a lot but so far it has performed well ,easy to operate and lots of power for the 7.5 kg Pitts
Kaastrup ; How long airfield to you fly it of ? i have a 75m long strip ,and it is kinda difficult to land it there ,i probably need more training

RE: Pitts s12 Jamara ASP 400 radial ARF 175 cm
Hi nils
We proberly have 80-85 meters, but not more - here is a link to our airfield
http://maps.google.dk/maps?f=q&hl=da...04678&t=h&z=18
I had 3 flights today, the first landing was pretty nice and used 3/4 airstrip - she is able to come in very slow, engine running in idle at about 1800 rpm. 2nd landing was a bit bumpy, and the plane stoped just before the end of the strip. 3rd was again quit easy.
With less than 75-80 meters it would proberly be hard to get her down...But she is able to fly very slow, with out any funny behavier so far :-)
One thing I dont like - the landing gear is way to soft - its GFK. It has hold up until now, but I would like to get a bit harder landing gear on her...
I will post some pics soon...

Long time since last post!
But i am still flying this Pitts s12 ,with the crrcpro gf50i engine. I have rebuildt the plane after an accident, but it is a good flying plane.
i have also adjusted the timing of the engine by moving the sensor counter clockwise a mm. because the engine knocked back while starting. Now it is fine.
How about your Pitts ,Kaastrup?
