Does anyone have any expierence with this model or can maybe lend a helping hand with tips or what engine or prop to use?

Good morning AAAv60. The Seagull PC-9 is an excellent model. I had a PC-9 until I lost it to a row of bushes when I lost it due to a glitch.

It was an excellent flier, and went was an easy build. The only issue I had (unless they've made a change) is that the tank sits about 3/8 to 1/2 inch high for an inverted engine, requiring you to make a modification to its mounting, and with the inverted engine, tuning the low end and high in settings is very important. Other than that, I had no problems, and after I made that modification and adjusted the needles, the engine always performed perfectly. If you don't want to modify th tank mount, I would recommend that you use a Perry Pump and adjust the low and high end needles accordingly.

I would recommend that you overpower the model a bit. I used an Irvin 53 on mine and it had great performance, and would go vertical for a while. With this power, I could do vertical aileron rolls with a hammerhead turn at the top, and even tailslides.

The airplane is not overly fast with this engine and a prop 4 or 5 pitch prop. If memory serves me correctly, I used a 13 inch prop with a 5 pitch. The diameter may not be correct. Just use the maximum diameter for the engine and adjust the pitch, probably a 4 or 5, or perhaps even a 6. You will find the lower pitches will give better power and less speed.

I found that landings were as if it were on a string. Just maintain 1/4 throttle until on final and you may found as I did, that this is one of the sweetest landing airplanes you can imagine, although it will land a bit hotter than a trainer.

I would also recommend that you do something with the color on the bottom of the wings as it is very difficult to distinguish between top and bottom when in the air.

Let me know how it goes and what you think of the PC-9. I think you're gonna like it if you overpower it just a little.

Oh, an afterthought! You might want to consider putting a remote glow starter on this model with an inverted engine as the glow starter battery is difficult to get too in front of the nose gear as it is. It can be done, but you must be very cautious and somewhat dexterous, or count on getting a finger or wrist in the prop.

I have a Seagull PC 9 with a Saito 72 and a 13 x 8 prop at the front, flies very well. We had a Magnum 52 FS in the nose and then a Thunder Tiger 54. They were ok but the 72 FS really gives the plane some authority and it does fly very well.

Havealso seen them fly well with an OS 46AX up front but for my money it doesn't sound right with a 2 stroke in the nose. A good plane, only complaint is the front wheel assembly is a bit ordinary and needed to be replaced.

You will enjoy the plane, they fly well and have no bad habits that I can think of
