Default Extreme Flight Yak 54e

Does anyone out there have any experience with this plane? I bought one a year ago and am very impressed. Great kit, reasonable price, flies incredible. I am impressed with all of the Extreme Flight products. The particular electric aircraft has a 47.5" wingspan but Extreme Flight has just introduced a 110" wingspan Yak 54!

I have one that still needs put together. I've "assembled" it to see how it looks. I might convert it to glow.
I just don't have the time to mess with it as I'm finishing up another project.

There is a guy flying QQ''s Yak this size with an OS .32sx and it is plenty of power. I''m thinking of the Saito .40a four stroke for the torque. I read a thread about a guy using this engine with a three pound plane and it hovers good with an APC 11x5 prop. The engine weighs about 10.7 ounces so it''ll weigh the same as the electric version. If you wanted to add five more ounces, you could use the Saito .56 or .62 which cost about the same.

Hi

I finished her off in 2 days and she is just like all the Extreme Flight machines very light. Mine is 39oz and running there 820 series big motor with a Castle Creations 45 amp speed control. Spinning a 12 * 6 apc she is pulling 38 amps and 504 watts. The Battery is a Flight Power 1800mah 14.8 Volt. Yes I am also running a CC BEC. Servos are HiTec 65.

The Flight performance is fantastic airborne in inches and she Flys nice and light perfect in low winds.

Hovers at half throttle inverted Harriers and Flat Spins are effortless.

No bad flight characteristics that I have found.

I highly recommend this ARF.

Ian
