RE: New Seagull Extra 260 180
What servos is everyone using. I cant decide I have 3 Futaba digital s9151s 132oz 19sec. I was thinking of using for the elevators but they have nylon gears. I also have two 9303 with 79oz / 24sec I was thinking of using but Im not sure if they have enough torqe and there a little slow. I have a new Hi tec 5945 for the rudder so Im good there. but I need ailerons, and elevators. I looked at the hitec 985 servo so what is everyone using on this plane

JR/Spectrum 821's or Hitec 5485, except the throttle which is a Hitec HS311, all at 6 volts.
ORIGINAL: Brett72
I used Spektrum DS821 on ailerons, throttle and elevator and a Hitec HS5645 on the rudder all at 6 volts

RE: New Seagull Extra 260 180
Here is my set-up
Saito 1.80
Throttle= HS475, Ailerons= HS625MG, Rudder/Elevators= HS7965
Had to put about 2 ounces of weight on the motor box to get it to balance. I have a DLE30 on an Ultra Stick 120 Light and it is great. It had a little idle issue till broken in but now is great. The USL is 9.5 lbs and is WAY over powered.
I want to go more gas so I'm going to order another one and put it on my Extra 180 when I can get my priorities right.

Has anyone had to put right thrust in thier engines to hold a good straight up line with no rudder?
My firewall is zero-zero, No thrust angles at all. Gotta kick the mount holes to the left 5-10mm, then
put spacers under the left standoffs. In inverted flight it likes to climb hands off, I think it might be a little tail heavy.
I've got a DLE-30 on it, a real good combo!

Have not noticed the thrust angle on the firewall. I have flown mine with a Saito 180 and a Zenoah G26. She flies well inverted with no drop or climb. Rudder is also set at zero degrees. Hope that helps

Wondering where you put your battery and how much weight you had to add to the tail. I have the same plane with a magneto Zenoah G26 and had to add a solid steel stabilizer tube and three more ounces of lead in the tail to make the CG balance.I also have JR 537 digital servos and so far they are holding up well. My plane has about 100 flights with no mishaps. I also have the same plane with a Saito 180 and it flyes much lighter with unlimited verticals something than the Zenoah plane won't do

The advantage of the Zenoah EI26 is that weight is not on the tip of the engine crankshaft, the receiver and ignition batteries are near the trailing edge wing .The weight diference of SAITO 180 is around 20 ounces in your Zenoah 26 and 10 ounces in the Zenoha26 EI ,I agree with you that should fly much better without that weight ,greetings.

I used longer servo arms and it is in line, however even if you leave it the servo horn should be at 90 deg with the pushrod when ail/ele surface is at neutral.

RE: New Seagull Extra 260 180
I just read that RCGF is soon coming out with their own 30cc engine.it weighes wit everything according to specs I read 39.5 ounces.I am thinking that size will be increasingly popular and for me its a dirction I will likely take as nitro fuel prices are getting really high especially with large stroke motors.Plus I read that hobbico now sells a life battery 2100 at 6.6v..so no regulator needed and would be great for igntion . anybody heard anything .

RE: New Seagull Extra 260 180
I flew mine for the first Time today I thought I had the cg set its 3-1/4 in back at the wing tip but on the first flight I rolled her over with a full tank and she flew level hands off inverted. this got me concerned that when the tank gets low what will happen. so I flew a it a few more min and rolled her inverted again this time she started to climb also the elavator was very sensitive so I landed adjusted the elavator and flew some more. also this thing lands very slow wants to keep floating would this be caused by it being tail heavy the plane seems to well no bad habits even if it is tail heavy. I got about 6 or 7 flights in today
Thanks Tim

check cofg with tank empty and with tank full will give you an idea of the difference, sounds like she's a tad tail heavy. Adding a spinner as Kostas has suggested will help and may be all that is required.
