RE: New Seagull Extra 260 180
i cut pieces of fuel tubing and use it for washers on the bolts that are screwed into blind nuts that i glued on the fuse..
I too went with leftover golden rod I used for my throttle linkage I drilled through both inner and outer wall and CA glued then used screws with the kit and picked up some teflon washers.

I just drilled through both the inner and outer wall and put the blind nuts on the inside of the fuse and got screws long enough to go through both walls. It worked great.

I have a Zenoah 26 whith electronic ignition ,do you think its better than magneto ignition ( I refer the wiegth) ,how wiegth you need in the tail to balace the CG aprox, and you use vibrations insulator in the engine mount? thanks for your answer .
Luis

I dont know about weight differences after you add the battery . I have the same plane with a magneto Zenoah. It will fly it well but it flies a little heavy. You will have plenty of power but not unlimitted vertical. I used nylon 1/2 spacers that I bought at Lowes. You can find them in the bins with the bolts and nuts. You will enjoy your plane. I have about 100 flights on mine with no mishaps. I had to use a solid steel stab tube and add about 3 oz of weight to the tail. Hope this helps.

Well after 12 flights, I'm not impressed with the performance of my RCGF 26cc. It's just not enough power for this model. Flys around well but stalls on the up-lines. I'm thinking of the DLE 30 instead.

Thank you for the information, I suggest you see weight is your plane out of fuel and then measure the power push with a balance to see the relationship between the weight of flight and the thrust of the engine, greetings.

It's relation that has the weight of the plane ,versus the power thrust of the engine in pounds, is your plane has 12 pounds and 26cc engine with a prop 16 x 8 gives you about 12 pounds of power thrust, that is fairly good relation for 1: 1 sport flight

I am not at home right now therefore can not send ypu pictures. The tank position is at the same place as the stock tank. To save weight I went with a smaller tank from one of my hangar 9 planes. I am using a steering arm mounted on the choke as a lever to open and close the choke. The spacers are made of a hard white vinyl they look like a washer and come in different thickness. You can get them at Lowes, look for them where they have vinyl bolts .

Has anyone installed the new DLE30? Weight is the same as my RCGF26 so weight shouldn't be a problem. The RCGF isn't enough power. Any thoughts on the DLE 30?

RE: New Seagull Extra 260 180
Hi All
Well inpresed with the reports on this segull 260 and before i read this I got mine, I,am fitting a dle30 as I already have one in a serbart katana120 and
i love the engine. To the folks that use the OS 160 I have run both the dle30 and os160 on a seagull yak120 size and found the dle has around 20% more
power and pull on the same plane ,os160 with a apc 18x6 8400rpm dle30 with wood prop 19x8 7400rpm. I have now got my second dle 30 for the extra
260 and cant wait to get together and fly but busy at the moment so a-it will take a cople of weeks.
Also I dont use perry pumps or onboard glows on the os 160 it took me some time to get it right and it took a change out of fuel line to the bigger size,
a os four stroke plug and adjusting the low end to 1 and 1/4 out from end this has made the os bullit proof and no dead sticks. I also use 10% nitro.
well will post some pics when finish .
all the best awd

Seagull versus Aeroworks? What are your overall impressions of the quality level between the two? I see H9 is selling the Seagull Extra 300S 75 ARF for only $129! I have a new OS 75AXand a spare JR 921 receiversitting on the shelf so I was thinking this might be a good way to put them to use.

I have the same plane with a Saito 180. I have been flying it for about six months. Its one of my best flying planes and it is close to my Aeroworks 90 -120 with a Saito 150. I think for the price this Seagull its a steal.

RE: New Seagull Extra 260 180
Got mine with the G-26 just flew it today. It is a little bit of a lightweight build as far as say the H9 p-47 I am building the seagull isn't sheeted with balsa the covering alone spans the fuse. But it flies like a dream mine flies hands off inverted as well as right side up. I have 3 gallons ran through mine since July it is my favorite plane so far. Not to mention the 180 is a nice big size. I also owned lou's edge540 from seagull again another great flyer. From what I have seen of aeroworks they make better planes but not worth the cost for me.

Almost ready to maiden mine (zdz 40 fitted) and was quite surprised that she seemed tail heavy. Can someone please confirm whether the c of g is measured at wing tip or root?
Any replies really appreciated

I have mine fitted with OS160 and pitts muffler, did not have to add any weights the tank is right on the fire wall as per design and battery just behind and mine is slight nose
heavy and i,am happy that way so I cant see how you could be tail heavy using a heavier engine . I have flown mine 10 times no problems and flyes really nice.
I did my CG with empty fuel tank and picked up from the tip of the wings just were the main frame is at the front .
hope this helps manuel

Thanks for your reply
can you confirm that the manual is corect ie cofg is 8.5 cms back from wing tip as some contributors are saying that the manual is wrong and should be 8.5 cms back from wing root?
