Hi Renn!

IMO, these are the possibilities for 1/4 scale aerobatic ARFs:

1) Build it stock with a small light motor (often this is the recommended motor or the smallest motor recommended). This is easy and inexpensive. The plane will generally "fly" and land very well. However, it will not Freestyle (3D) or be capable of advanced pattern sequences.

2) Build it stock and motor up. This is easy, too. The plane will generally "fly" and land heavy. However, it will Freestyle and be capable of advanced pattern... but it will not do them very well.

3) Strip some (usually the bottom of the fuse) of the covering, if not all, off of the plane. Get out the dremel and grind out everything you can get away with (this is a learned process but generally any plywood in an ARF can have 1/8" to 3/8" cut off of it without trouble if you do not abuse the plane on landings). Go with all the CF, Lith-Ion batteries and other gear you can. Consider every gram you can remove from the plane and every gram your going to ad. Go with a Saito 1.80 on 30% Heli fuel (or wait until next year to possibly get a BME-50 Extreme at 2-lbs). This is expensive and takes more time (i.e.,you might as well get a bigger plane that doesn't have these inherent problems). However, the plane will Freestyle and fly pattern excellent... if you do it right.

Oh, and the WM 80" Extra is a bit big... it will need all the lightening possible and a ZDZ-40 or similar... and it still may fly a bit heavy.

Hi Renn!

Well... you said you wanted to "overpower" the plane. And, also say you want to build it stock. For that you can go with a Moki 2.10 on the H9 EDGE540 (I had one with that setup). Or, go with a ZDZ-50 on the WM Extra.

Both will have plenty of power... both will fly a bit heavy.
