Looks great
Does it fly as nice as it looks..
If I can find one I'll buy it. Think a Irvine 53 or OS 61 SF will be large enough engine??It will be inverted..Does it have any bad habits....."???
Thanx WAlt

Hangar 9 FUNTANA 40
Mid May according to H9.
Q-Ball, I think an OS .61 will be too much weight for this plane.
I'm thinking about a Saito .72, same weight as an OS .46FX with muffler.

Hangar 9 FUNTANA 40
I thought this plane looked awesome too! I went to my LHS, and put my name on the first one he gets in. Supposedly Horizon will ship a 'demo' unit to their authorized locations about a week before they release the product for ordering. Can't wait! Between the Funtana and the Extreme RC 65" Extra, I will have a few projects to work on this summer. I have a Saito 72 and a 100 just waiting for a home. Yipeeeee!

Ditto with Tyler
I too am wondering how it is in the air.Especially landings.Does it come in like "Katy bar the door" or will it slow down nicely.I'm not much of a 3D flyer but do like to do some crazy stuff whether by accident or on purpose. The only thing that would keep me from buying it would be if it's fast or not. If it's a slow plane,no way, but by the looks of it with the rite engine it would move pretty well.I'll put the Irvine 53 on it..I DO like speed in the rite price range. My favorite plane is my Champion 45L and it moves quiet nicely and flyies straight as an arrow with a TT 46 Pro.
Are the pix on here the actual ARF color scheme??
Thanx again, Walt

Have one? Or know someone that does?? How would you compare the two??

Q-Ball, if you want it I'll sell it for $125 including the servos and battery. It has 4 HiTech 645MG servos on the surfaces, 1 Futaba 3004 for the throttle, and an 1100 mAh NiCad battery. For $300 I'll even throw in the OS 70 FS which was a new engine for this plane. I'm in Houston, which is only a stone throw away.

Hangar 9 FUNTANA 40
Mike,
How long have you had it and what does it look like.Does it look new or what..My real concern is that I'm putting a Irvine 53 in it.My 4S 70 is in my VMAR Edge. The conern is cutting up the cowling to fit the 2S in it when you have it cut for your 4S to fit.My 2S will be inverted.Sounds like a good deal. Let me know what your engine set up is and I'll run over there....
Thanx Walt

I've had the plane for about 6 months, so it has about 25 flights on it. The cowl is NOT cut up all over the place. It has two small 1/8" holes on the right side to access the high & low-end needles. They could easily be hidden with two dots of covering. The bottom of the cowl is completely open to facilitate cooling and allow the engine to stick out. I'll PM you some pick tonight around 7:00 PM if your interested.

Back to the Futana. Whats the Price on it? I was thinking of getting an Extra 300S for my FX .61 and now I wanna get this bad boy for my .46 FX. Both are great motors might I add...

Price
Havoc,
The price on the Funtana 40 is 169 from Hangar 9 or wherever they are.Good price for the looks but my VMAR Edge looked great for the price too and got a lot of bad press on the net. I bought it anyway and don't really have many complaints.Pretty good plane, just a bit heavy.Thanx Walt

Specs per Horizon web site:
The new Funtana S .40 3D ARF was designed exclusively for Hangar 9® by one of Europe’s most famous 3D pilots, Sebastiano Silvestri. Silvestri is an expert in F3A, a freestyle master and a world-class Tournament of Champions competitor that has amazed audiences all over the world. He based the Funtana S on his highly successful Katana S TOC design. The result is a budget-friendly .40-size airplane with unlimited IMAC performance.
The Funtana can do it all: harriers, torque rolls, blenders, rolling circles and almost anything else you can dream up. It’s all possible thanks to an extremely lightweight, all-wood airframe and big control surfaces that give the Funtana a very impressive thrust to weight ratio and crisp control authority at any airspeed. An attractive UltraCote® trim scheme and factory-painted parts such as the cowl and wheel pants complement the performance perfectly.
