Dear All,
I recently bought an Extra 330 S from PHOENIX MODEL.
According to the manufacturer, a 2-stoke engine from 0.60 to 0.91 size is needed.
If some of you has this plane, could you tell me which engine you use? I would like to use, if possible, a 4-stroke engine, so which size would be needed?
I thank you a lot in advance.
Nicolas

Hi Brainiax,
Thanks for your answer.
Isn't a 120FS too much?
I would like it well powered but not too much, as I'm not interested in torqueroll for instance, and so on...
So, wouldn't a 0.90 FS be sufficient?
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas
Although I couldnt find the web site for your plane to look at the specs, I'm also building a 330s and have put a O.S. .91 supass II in it.. While I havent flown it yet, others I've talked to with similar planes and engines all tell me that it has plenty of power to do most anything you'd want..
See the following forum for pics and build info.. Some/all may apply to your plane as well

Hi Finchase4 and Chuck993,

I originally was going to put an O.S. 120AX in the plane, but I am now putting that in a Showtime 90...

Hi Nicolas
Here are the specs on my 330s..
Specifications:
Wing Span: 63 in / 1600mm
Wing Area: 713sq in /46 sq dm
Flying Weight: 6.6 lb / 3000g
Fuselage Length: 60 in / 1520mm
Engine Required: 4c 0.91 cu in
Radio Required: 4channels, 5servos
I think the OS .91 is a good choice for these planes. If you want more power out of your .91, install a Graupner prop.. They have a lot more pull than others I've found..

Dear All,
Thanks a lot for your answers!
According to what you say, I will definitely use a 0.91 4-stroke for this plane!!
Thanks again!

Hey Guys,
I have another question: which propeller size would you advise with an OS FS 91 Surpass II?
Thanks a lot.

I have a couple of O.S. 91 Surpass four strokes and they work well with a APC 13x8, 14x6, 15x4W for me...
I am running my Hanger 9 Ultra Stick 60 with a 14x6 right now and sometimes the 15x4W, which is great for hovering, etc...the 14x6 seems to work really well with that plane and engine...I use to run the 13x8 all the time, 14x6 is much better...I use all APC props.
The O.S. 91 Four stroke is an outstanding engine, starts right up, durable work horse.
