From: Denver, CO,
Finally broke down and grabbed this from my LHS. I've been debating buying for months. I have a TT 120 looking for a good home, so here I go. The manual shows Futaba 3003's throughout, but I'm not convinced they are the best/only way to go.
I'll probably go with a Hitec 5645 for the rudder, but is 40oz enough for the elevator and ailerons? I don't do any 3d stuff, but I don't want to loose a plane to having "barely enough" servos in them. Are the 3003's plenty?...or just "barely enough"?
Would I be better off with Hitec 605's all around including the rudder? ... or is that overkill.

I'd go a bit bigger. Standards on the ailerons, but 605's on the tail (elev and rudd). I'm on Ultimate #2 and love this plane. I hope yours does well for you.

Prez of our club is using 4-225s on the wings(very quick)2-605s on the elevater and a 615 MG on the rudder. This is the popular set-up in our club on the bigger planes and it doesn,t break the bank and is reliable.I use 605s on the wing for monoplanes but our prez can,t seem to break his 225s on his DP and he does 3D so i might try them also and they are powerful little guys(over 60 on a 5 cell pack)I wouldn,t use standard servos on such a big plane, not worth losing a 800 to 1000$ finished project over a cheap servo.

Tower Hobbies lists the 615's as "discontinued". Is there a replacement for them? When you say 225's for the aileron's do you mean the Hitec HS-225MG Mighty Mini BB Servo? And four of them?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes he uses 1 on each aileron.myself i would use 2 605s.He was unhappy about it coming out heavier than they said it would but it flys nicely on a OS160.The 645 mg is a perfect replacement for the 615 and costs the same and has over 130" of push on a 6 volt pack and would have no trouble pushing that big(huge)rudder around.Check out SERVO CITY on line for all the specs and they have great prices also.

wildthng: How did your club prez use two 605's on the elevators? The instructions show them ganged together with one servo.
Thanks for sll the suggestions guys. I don't understand why kit and ARF manufacturers don't supply servo specification recommendations.

I will take a look at his plane thursday night at our club meeting and get a picture and post it,there seems to be a lot of interest in setting up this plane and our prez has been flying rc since the early 70s so is very good at knowing what works.I know he used 2 separate pull pull systems on the elevaters.
