World ARF 26 Cub
Hi Gang.. I am just starting to build this little ARF World 26 Cub and I was wondering
From those who have put this together.. is Question- Does the balsa piece go under
the tank up toward the front? seems that the 8x8 piece is to wide...
also are there any other things to modify or I won't understand on these instructions?
Thanks Much for any input.. Oh,,, it is on page 3 ,,, #2 what I am talking about.

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
Thanks Jim.. I did see the up-dated manual from World on-line (just a while ago)... I did not have that picture
in my manual that came with the kit... And I do see that the 8x8 goes behind the tank now..
ALSO , I am installing a brand new OS 30 FS into this plane and I am trying to figure
out how to run the throttle cable now.. I can not turn the carb around like on the rest
of my OS engines ,,, ummmmm.
Any thoughts?
I am grateful for your help.. and YES the cowls seems a bit large around the fuse..

Sheesh.. sorry for all the Questions, Jim, how far out or in
did you place the engine on the mount from the front of the motor mount?.

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
Oh Yes I will definitely have to use a flex cable.!
Still trying to figure out how to have the OVER SIZED
Cowl not hit the throttle body.. heck I would be done with
this plane if it were not for this engine placement..
Still just sitting there on the bench ! *lol*

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
Jim, Just about got it done... I should show you
a picture of how I did it... I thought of inverted,
But I did not want the muffler sticking up in
the air like that.. any how, I just about got
it licked!~
Thanks,
Jeff
P.S.- I am sure I will have more Questions so
don't leave me now *lol*

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
Here we go.. and cable seems to run smooth....
And throttle arm just goes under the engine mount
I also drilled a hole in the side former for the
cable to run more direct to the micro servos
I now need I guess to add some kind of support
for using micro servos as it seems to look
like the plane's tray is for standard.

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
If I did not turn the throttle arm around toward the
engine , it would have stuck out to far for the cowling
to fit. I also had to drill through the engine mount as well.

It is set for standard servos. Attach the servos to the front and add a filler to the rear. Why didn't you move the throttle arm to the upside of the carb. Most likly you could have used the throttle wire that comes with the kit. The Mag 30 and OS are the same engine in fit, form and function. $$$$ is the basic difference.
Nice job all the same.

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
Jim , the throttle arm would have stuck out to far away from the fire wall.
It went past the outside wall of the firewall,
I tried and tried this fit over and over, and this is the only closest way
I could come up with.. anyway I think it will work pretty good.
seems to be no binding at all as well.

OK - Looks good and as long as it works. I inverted mine so was not a problem.
DId you know that a Great planes 8 OZ tank fits in perfect to replace the oem tank. Sorry I forgot to tell you earlier. I found out from the Tower web site as I was building mine.

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
Jim.. Almost done my friend... So how did you mount
the tail wheel? I am trying to do it according to
the pictures on the box , but the angle of the tail wire
seems to not fit on the bottom of the rudder.
Any mods for this? Also the black plastic part
will not sit flush to the bottom of the plane fuse
as well.. ummmm.
Thanks,
Jeff

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
Yep the Cub sips fuel with the FS-30. I have the same side mounting. The throttle had to be cut down for it to fit inside the cowl so turning the throttle outward does create interference.
And I use Dubro wheels only, all the rest is stock. Standard servos, too!
Love this plane... though it could de with a little more power. The FS-30 does a great job of fairly scale flight.
Good Luck!

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
That is what I figured Jim.. Did you drill a hole through the rudder
and put the wire into that? then use the clamp on the outside?
I also tried to order the tank you recommended but there on back
order at this time.
forestroke
Glad to here the engine will be a good one!
Did you use the Dubro for all 3 wheels?
Thanks Much Guys!

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
well they aren't exactly cub wheels but they are much nicer than the foam ones that come with the kit. you can see them in my gallery, hanger. the wheels are scale dubros with monokote sticky back covering on them in cub yellow. the tail wheel is also a dubro. can't remember the size though.
the tailwheel wire i did not stick into the rudder. i just put it in the metal clamps. there was some play at first but i lightly crimped it tight. ground handling is great (relatively speaking). the black plastic part? both my cub 26s from WM have had metal tail gear. they must have swapped them out for slightly less expensive version.
it's a beautiful plane. but you must turn with the rudder or else it just looks weird dragging its tail around turns.
have a great time with this setup. yours will be lighter than mine given that you have smaller servos in them. let us know how it turns out!

RE: World ARF 26 Cub
One thing that works well is a micro or sub micro servo, there is almost no load torque on a throttle cable I mount mine in the side of the fus on a little ply rectangle attached with 2 screws thru the body gets around the tank with a flex cable easily and easy access, and other stunt mount a servo arm on the the front outside of the mount run the throttle cable to that then a short link back the throttle arm arm then you do not have that big hole in back of the engine firewall its off the side and clears the tank this works well on almost any 4 strk with a rear carb martin
mounting the engine on its side solves a lot of issue too
