Default Need help deciding on ARF...

Hey!

I think I've pretty much narrowed it down to a few choices. I have a Saito 170 R3 radial, some considerations are the Goldberg Sukhoi (120), The GP Super Stearman or a 120 sized warbird. It's only got 5 tanks through it so a model that is semi-controllable during an engine out is another factor.

Just curious if anyone els knew of any other good combos with this engine.

Thanks! Pete

First forget the engine out scenario, ain't going to happen. What will happen is you'll loose one of the three cylinders, which effectively cuts your power in half. Get a Mac Danial's on board glow driver, that way when you lose a cylinder you throttle back to light the plugs, get your power back and fly away happily. You can also set it to keep the plugs lit all the time, but that uses more battery.

I had one in a Kange WACO Bipe, it's 72" WS, it flew it well, it could climb at 45* angle, very nicely powered, and sounded so good.

I've seen one with a Pacific Areomodel GEE BEE Y Sportster and it was a pretty slick combo. Just enough power to fly well and it sounded great. Nicely made airplane.
