I maidened mine 2 weekends ago and got in a half dozen or so flights powered by a zenoah 20ei. spinning an APC 16 x 6 prop. fuel was mid grade gas with 80 to 1 Amzoil. I was getting about 9800 rpm on the bench on that prop. I checked it with 2 different tachs so it should be pretty acurate.
In order to balance the plane the motor was installed about a 1/4 inch less than the manuals recomended distance from firewall to prop washer, also I moved the batteries to the rear of the area accessible when the canopy is removed. and installed a 4.8 volt 2700 mAh on the igintion and a 6volt 2700mAh on the reciever. other options to help balance the plane exist and you may wish to explore those.
with this set up the plane was slightly nose heavy using the CofG that was in the manual.
the plane flew nice and had decent power, not enough for 3D but it was good for the IMAC 2008 Basic sequence. I havn't had a chance to test other props on it as i had a radio failure during a landing and its been on the work bench for repairs I have replaced the landing blocks and firewall that were torn out and have remounted the engine, got a few more details to fix and hope to have it back in action this weekend I have an APC 15 x 6 and a 15 x 8 to try as well. They tell me the zenoah will get better as it continues to break in so I am looking forward to flying this plane a lot more.
