I've had this plane for a few months and haven't flown it much honestly, but I flew it last fall and the right horizontal sabilizer snapped in level flight at wide open throttle, I was flying it today and it did the same thing again obviously I repaired it. the left side no problems i haven't investigated today on the break.
I don't beleive I am over powering it with an os 46 ax I have a phoenix sukhoi with a saito 72 on it with no problems and the previous sukhoi I had the 46 fx, I have built kits mostly great planes and haven't had any problems of this sort with kits, but this arf has me somewhat nervous to fly the rocket now, I am getting really frustrated with the plane.
My main question is has anyone else had this happen to their airplane? And if so what mod have you done to yours, I am thinking of stripping the covering off the bottom of the stab and sheeting the bottom as well as stiffining the fracture area. Coming in from the bottom it woun't be to noticible from the top of the issue at hand and the mixed matched covering as well. Well thanks for the reply's

My Feedback: (4)
Yes, this is a known problem with the Rocket.
My son reviewed this plane and it happened to him too. Read his review and scroll down to the "Flight Report" and you'll see how we fixed the problem.

Thanks minnflyer for the information, I'm glad mine is not one of a million that would have a problem. I think im going to sheet the bottom of the stab(i have extra sheeting available) since the closest hobby shop is about an hour away and we're to busy for me to get away right now during the week, I also have had good luck doing this with my gp extra 300s 40 that I modified and haven't had any problems with.
Again thanks for the information and the assistance.

I have a Harmon Rocket which I got off a guy at our club after he crashed it on landing.
He was running a 4 stroke in it and he never had a problem with the stabilisers.
I am wondering if this is only happening with the 2 strokes as they seem to go quicker?
I am in the middle of repairing the model for flight and am now wondering if I should sort this problem out while its in bits.
I will be running a 46AX in it too.
Am I better off taking the covering off the tail and strengthening it internally as I have to cover a couple of other areas on the plane.
Or should I just do the mod with the rods from vertical tailplane to horizontal stabiliser?
