Johnny,
I have this plane and I must say it is one sweet warbird!!!! My club is electric-only I did an E-conversion on mine. There are some issues though with retracts and although I only have 3 flights so far, I have ZERO successul landings [][]
Landing 1: Complete nose-over because gear too close to CG. Rudder ripped out!
Landing 2: Nice smooth landing.... gear collapsed [&o]
Landing 3: Right gear ripped out of housing, flipped over, rudder broken.
Take-offs are tricky too. The tail wants to come up quick and if you don't get on the elevator quick it will nose over. But, if you give too much up elevator to get the tail down the plane may take off too quickly and then you're in trouble!!
But, once it's in the air it flies great! My wing-loading is over 30 oz/sq ft and the plane handles it no problem! I see no odd tendancies in the air.
Now, the easiest thing to do concerning the retracts is of course use the fixed gear... but if you're like me you'd rather have the retracts. My suggestion is Robart 615's. They have 100 degree travel so they get those wheels out in front of the CG a little more. The stock wheels are also way too small. The problem though is that the wheel wells are surrounded on 3 sides by ribs & a spar. To make the wheel well larger you need to cut into them and reinforce appropriately. This is the stage I'm at now.
You will not regret buying this plane. If you need any suggestions on the assembly let me know. I don't have many posts here but I'm a regular on RCG under the same handle.
Here's some video of landing #2

Johnny,
Nice plane but tricky to build right
See my build log and ask any questions ... I might be able to answer them
