Check the fuel tank. Sounds like the clunk is hung-up ( fuel line to it was probably cut too long causing it to bind.)

How are you trying to take it out? From the carb line, or does it have a third line?

Yes, we need to know the type of fuel system - 2 or 3 line - in order to help.

2 line means there is a line from the tank to the carb, and another line from the muffler to the tank.

3 line means the above, plus a third line that goes from the tank and has a plug at the end.

Then I would guess that the third line may be too close to the back of the tank and is sucking itself against the back wall as you try to de-fuel

Did you have to assemble the tank before you put it into the airplane? Where do the three lines go on the inside of the tank?

When in a cowl plane I use two clunks in the tank, one for filling and draining and the other for the carb. My guess is you put the tube into the stopper and ran a line from that to a fuel dot but did not put one inside the tank. Just me going way out on a limb here for ya'.....
