not looking for a field cleaner, but something strong to get glue marks and stuff out without damaging the monokote. Maybe some type of thinner?

Try acetone'It work's great but you should try it on the bottom of the plane first in a small area to make sure it won't harm the covering.Just use a small amount. You can get it at any hardware. Tim.

I use nitromethane to remove CA from the monokote. Then use rubbing alcohol to clean up.

A little lacquer thinner on a rag works great. Be sure to work in a well ventilated area.

I use trim solvent. Smells like gasoline. The wife just loves it.

Hey!

I clean all epoxy and CA overruns right after glueing to make the final job easier and keep the plane looking decent. For a final wash to clear the fingerprints and other assembly dirt I use a paint thinner soaked rag.

It leaves a clean " As seen on TV $19.95! Buy Now!", streak free mirror shine. Sorry I'm up all hours of the night.... :stupid:

posted basically this same mix a while back, but am going to try the following ratios this year. Works great for me, and CHEAP!!! Like maybe a buck for a full fuel jug!

empty and clean fuel jug
2 cups 99% alcohol
fill 3/4 with water
add 1/2 cup sunlight dish soap.
mix

follow this order or you'll just end up making bubbles.

FYI,
Lacquer Thinner rocks!!!!!

Just a little bit on a rag with some very light rubbing removed every trace or both epoxy and CA. No streaks, and it left the monokots shinny....

Acetone works fine on ultracoat.

It will clean the printing off decals, though. Guess how I learned that.
