tiggerinva,
My father owned a Vmar chipmunk. The same plane you are talking about. He has been in this hobby for 30+ years and I have been flying for about 15+ years. We have both built many kits and arfs. The Vmar chipmunk is without a doubt the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen. The quality is terrible and the plane did not fly well at all. I called Vmar and told them my disappointment with the plane. Their response was terrible, an "oh well" attitude. I would never buy one of their arfs again. If you do a search about vmar arfs you will see I am not the only one who feels this way. They have a terrible reputation. If you have any more specific questions about the airplane feel free to email me at [email protected]

OK, joking and Super Chipmunks aside, it looks like the only alternative is:
40-60 size Chipmunk
This is a kit but it looks like the only model available of a 'proper' Chipmunk. Of course there's the Dynaflite Chipmunk kit also, but its a bit too big...
