Now I'm off to search for East RC, and search further for the "Lucky 13".

Ok, First I will state that I know Chris and the East RC crew, I take photos for them whenever they ask for help. I also frequent their store on a weekly basis

That done with, I am also the proud owner of a Lucky 13, I wrote the electro conversion section of the manual for them. I am in the process of redoing that as I now have better ideas on what to do and how to do it.

The Lucky 13 is a FANTASTIC plan to fly!! does all of the standard sports aerobatic maneuvers with ease on a decent glow or electric engine. I run mine with the following setup for electric:-

4130/06 and 6s2p lipo, running on a Vess 15x8 wooden prop, or a 15x8 APC, or 14x10 APC. I'm working on some data from an Eagletree V3 for different prop/battery/motor combination's but the above will do all the IMAA basic maneuvers with ease and basically go vertical from take off to loosing sight of it

I have also run it on a 16x10 with a 5s1P combo and it flies a little softer. Easy on take off, landings are sweet as long as you have used a taildragger before.

After my parkzone T-28 it is my favorite plane to fly

Get the clear canopy as it looks FAR better with one on it!!

For nitro others in the RD-RC club are running hot 46's, 60's and even a 90 4-stroke! The plane performs well on all of them, within the limits of the particular engine.

I am working on one right now to replace my first (case of the fingers not believing the brain) and once I have it up in the air will take some pix and send details of engines used etc.

Hi Mike,
Thought I'd drop in for a moment and give you a little input on the Lucky 13. Like Dave was saying, this is one great flying model. Also, it is VERY well designed and built. The parts fit on this model is second to non, and it goes together very quickly. A lot of pre-fab work has been done for you already and the hardware pack is very complete. They even pre-drill the needed holes in the control surfaces for all the control horns! As far as flying goes, this plane easily performs loops, rolls and knife edge flight. It'll even do knife edge loops! Trust me, Ive done a few with it. That is, when my WIFE lets me at the sticks! Thats because our Lucky 13 belongs to HER! Yup, she's a flyer also, and she loves her Lucky 13. My wife Jacqui is very fortunate to be sponsored by East RC, and they asked her to campaign this really cool model during the 2008 flying season. This was her second model, and her first low wing / tail dragger. Jacqui quickly progressed into loops, rolls and snaps while flying this model, and really enjoys it still. The Lucky 13 drives well on the ground, making Jacqui's transition to a tail dragger pretty easy.Her Lucky 13 is powered by a 61 glow engine, and it's way more power than it needs. A good 45 will pull this plane along just fine, but would drop the vertical performance a bit. Although this plane can do just about any trick in the book, it's still a very easy plane to fly and makes an excellent second or third model for someone.
Like Dave said, the addition of a clear canopy really adds to the looks of this model. I was asked to do the construction manual for this model and I tried to add as much detail as I could. You can veiw the manual online prior to purchasing it if needed, and I think you will find it to be very informative.

Ok, here are some pictures from the RD-RC field, both mine and Jacqui's planes are in them.....I"ll get more once we get to the field at the same time and get to flying I've just picked up the clear canopy for mine and will be posting some pics of the electric conversion process if anyone is interested??

In the picture with two planes, the top one is Jacqui's with the 61 glow, mine has not spats nor cowl as we were messing about the the engine/battery combination's.

I"ll try to get better pix of them later and certainly ones of my new L13 once Ihave the parts finished to put together

Buy one...or two..you'll enjoy flying them if you are looking for a nice sports/aerobatic that is built to fly!

I am looking at using one for basic IMAC this year, if I can get my flying together that is

I'm about to drop a OS .70FS into one... I've flown several of these, and they are SWEET birds. One comment on the fuel tank setup... the kit is supplied with various fuel lines, as it is used in outer kits. The black line is for gas... If you fly with glow power, use the silicone lines supplied in the tank package. The black vinyl line will harden if used with glow fuel. Hope that helps!

I was informed by some one to ck the tank pick up in the tank. The black line factory installed will get hard & not allow fuel pick up on nitro. After only 10 days it was not flexable, so i replaced it.THANKS!!!!! it saved me from a sure dead stick. Terry

I'm about to drop a OS .70 4S in one, now. Jason Jarvis was in the shop and mentioned the issue with the black fuel line, and I had not even throught about that. After posting this on another thread, Larry Lewis mentioned having the same issue. That same tank is used in several other airplanes, and comes with fuel tubing for both gas and glow operation. The black line is for gas... The guys are putting notes in the boxes now, to mention this, so hopefully others won't have the same issue.

If you fly with glow power, use the silicone lines supplied in the tank package. The black vinyl line will harden if used with glow fuel. If you fly with electrons like the Geckoman, it doens't matter, heheheh.
