Default Help with next purchase.

Hey guys. I've been looking around for a new plane but there are so many good choices out there. This will be my 4th model. I've flown a aircore trainer, sig astro hog, and currently fly a aircore colt with an os 70 surpass. I'm looking for an ARF and want to use a Saito 100 to power it. I can do basic aerobatics and fly in windy conditions. I have looked at the 4 star 60, pulse 60 xt, some warbirds, and some edge 540's. I will be flying from a rough runway also. What do u guys think? Thanks for your input.

Dragonlady by Modeltech-distributed by several I believe Global Hobbies is one of the distributors-flies nice in wind as well as rough fields-Saito 100 would be nice in it.

I agree with planejim. The Dragonlady would be a great choice. I understand it's a fairly easy build also. It's a sweet looking plane also.!! A couple of guys in our club have one & they said they are very easy to fly !!!

mpw_8679,

The pulse 60 that you were looking at would be a great choice. One of our club members has one with an OS 75AX and he let me fly it and it flys very well and is very predictable. The color scheme makes it really easy to see in the air.

Wyoming huh? wind would be a big factor

It is had to beat a Four Star 60 or Pulse 60 except for the gust factor.

I have found the Horizon Ultra Stick 60 to be the most wind gust resistant plane I have owned. I wouldn't bother with the flaps.

I have found the plane to be a blast with a computer radio and maximum rates and 60% expo.

All these planes do well with a 100. I think you will be OK in the 5000' - 7000' altitude with these planes also when using the 100/

Thanks for your help. The Dragonlady looks like a sweet plane but I think that color scheme would be hard to see in flight. I think I have narrowed my choices down to the pulse or four star. I decided a warbird wouldnt be a good idea since my runway is rough, and I'm sure retracts wouldn't like that. If anyone has any other ideas I'm open to all suggestions.

Keeping side area to a minimum helps with the wind but hurts knife edge ability

that brings up an exception. A friend has a couple of UCD 60's, one with a OS 120AX and the other with a Saito 125. They do as well as my Ultra Stick in the wind. And they knife edge well also. But they shouldn't be good in the wind.
