I just installed a OS FS56-a in a CMP Cessna 182 Skylane 50 size and I am ready to cut the Cowl for the valve cover. Does anyone have a picture of the OS FS56-a sticking out of the Cowling. It is up to the front of the Cowl just in back of the vent radius. I am not sure I will like the looks of the valve cover sticking out that far up. I don't have much of a choice if I stay with the engime. I am hoping to see a picture first. Thanks.

Here is mine with a Mag 52 four banger. It chugs around on 1/2 throttle,and is a handfull wide open. Good everyday beater

Thanks Toolow. Here is a picture of mine after I decided to go with it and cut the cowl. I now need to get a header pipe to direct the muffler away from the cowling. I need a 30-45 Degree bend I believe. I can't fit the cowling with in on. Thanks for your pic. It looks like it is in the same position as mine.

I set up the muffler so it would clear the firewall. Took the pipe to a friend that made brake lines and bent it to fit. then for an extention to get out of the cowl, used alum pipe clamped to the end of the muffler . Cheap, but effective!

Do you know what angle it was bent too? I am going to have to buy one. I don't have any way to bend it.

Dont know what the angle is-just LAR! (looks about right) I have bent other headder pipes by slipping a drill bit inside the pipe ends and heating and tweaking the angle to what I need. I only heat and bend the pipes when Im in the last stages of an all night bash to fly the next morning. My friend has a power bender that he bends stainless tubing for hydrolic and fuel lines. For him to bend my pipes,he gets stick time on my planes. I think its a fair trade

Alternatively you can buy an OS extension (P/N OS part #72109600) which allow extra angle to fit. I used a Magnum XL70FS (then switched to an OS F-81a) for the Cessna and angle to fit perfectly.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered one similar to that but I may have to order that type. I'll have to wait and see what kind of room I have. I am also trying to find a 2-3/4" wheel for my Cessna 182 that fits the 654 Robart front landing gear and has the 3/16" center axle hole. I am also kicking around another Idea to get a 5/32' dowel pin and drill out the robart strut and use wheel collars to fasten it. I'll probably use the latter.
