Your carb installation needs work. With the carb hanging out in the slipstream you'll never get a good tune on it. Either put something in front of it or behind it so that the air around the carb is a still as you can make it.

Some guys get away with it, it's just bad practice, IMHO.

They'd run just like they do now.

I have a couple more, fully enclosed. No problems there, either.
