I have a SkyShark Eagle and was looking for some help with a glow engine choise. I have a Moki 1.8 and a OS 1.60 FX. I also have the Great Planes Pitts (witch i know they say the 1.60 will fly). I plan to use a Moki 2.10 for the pitts and the Eagle is not much smaller than it. Will a 1.60 fly it "good"? Is the Moki 1.8 to heavy for the Eagle? Thanks for any help.

Having had both planes, I wouldn't use anything smaller than the Moki 1.80 in either. These are very 'draggy', as most all bipes are, and benefit from powerful light engines like the 2.10 or 1.80. Personally, I would use a 2.10 in both, if you insist on glow power. The Moki 2.10 is a real powerhouse, as you know, and will bring these airframes to life. I used 2.4 to 3.2 gas in all of mine. I liked the Skyshark Eagle the best. Good design, more authentic lines yet very well behaved, easier to maintain with the large removable top hatch / canopy, more rugged gear and wheel pants, among other things (it had a FPE 2.4 in it).

This particular Eagle was built around a 1.80 four stroke. I am willing to bet that the O.S. 1.60FX will fly the snot out of it. There is someone on here that flys it with an O.S. 1.60 Do a search and you will find a long thread about this plane.

Thanks guys! I was looking at both the pitts and Eagle side by side tonight and not much difference in size really and i know most would not agree the 1.60 is a good choise (or under powered) for the GP Pitts. And with the drag of a bipe made me think of useing the Moki 1.8.

I have a 1.80 Saito in mine, but wish that I had a gas engine instead. Saito is way too thirsty. I love the way it flies, but not very economical with this engine. Its going to end up with a gas engine. JC
