Maiden flight today. Getting it ready. On board starter does not need to be choked much if any-I over did the choke bit and had to remove plug and drain excess fuel (Goof Ball). Cowl then went off for adjustments and was left off for first flight. On board stater worked great- New G38 started up (no choke applied) and purred like a kitten. Half throttle and it lifted off runway at about 50ft with no elevator input. Two clicks down trim on elevator and no more trim need. Flew at half throttle for very scale like performance.
This is Olen's plane I built for him and he had the joy of taking it off - Have you ever seen an overgrown kid having too much fun - He was having a ball with this plane- what a great kit and flyer.

Olen is blue shirt (owner) - Howard (red shirt) back up pilot and we did need him.

Take off was easy - again plane flew great. Howie and Olen take turns flying -- Then my preflight check list skills come into play ??!!
I checked and worried over everything but as soon as I saw the nose wheel fall off "Suddenly Remembered" I never tightened or put lock nut goo on wheel nuts.
This is when ACE " Howie shines. He greased it in on the mains (beautiful) and set the front wheel down at the last moment. He landed in soft grass along side of paved runway. Very little cosmetic damage to wheel pant. No digging in or flipping over. Just slid in on the grass a short distance.
I did not get pic of landing. To many other things on my mind!!

used to be a barren shale hill top. Now Clayton has to mow twice a week to keep up.

Very Nice! Anxious on reports from everyone else too. Nice looking bird. What do the instructions say about wing struts...necessary or not. Their .40 sized 182 were not required and the wing tubes look to extend into the wing pretty good.
Any way you can post a diagram of your rudder servo placement mod discussed in the other H9 182 thread?

PS: Struts are not for flight load, but they mount so easy and add so much to looks - would be a shame not to have them installed. They just slip into place during wing assembly and are secured with 440 bolts into pre-drilled hole. Just take time/care when mounting fairing covers, locate center hole to access bolts and all else goes easy.
