to PRE-PAY/PRE-ORDER THEM once I have photos ??

Its very bright [8D] Yeah, it would be hard to loose that thing in the sky. IMO I don't like the crazy bright colors. I would perfer to have a military schemed plane. Don't get me wrong, its a very nice plane, just not the plane for me.
Just my 2 cents,

Guess you guys didn't realize the "Bird" version is a warbird.
As in military plane. Yep, it is an aircraft of the Austrian Air Force and that is their scheme for it. Does that change your opinion of it now?
Type: Pilatus PC-6/B2-H2 Turbo Porter
Owner / Operator: Austrian Air Force
Unit / Wing: Fl Rgt 1/4 Flachenstaffel
Aircraft Registration: 3G-EL
Construction Number: 777

A buddy has the new Porter with an OS 52 4S and it flies very nicely. We were flying in some 10 to 15 mph crosswinds and he was having a ball.

kmot; what are you putting in for power?

Since the full scale is a turbine powered plane, I am hoping an electric motor version will have a "whine" to it and sound (if I close my eyes and imagine REAL hard!) sort of turboprop like.
I have ordered a Turnigy 50-55 motor and a Turnigy 80 amp speed control. I already have some 4S batteries for my boats, so I will use them in this plane.

RE: VQ PILATUS PORTER PC-6 NEW COLOR SCHEME!
My power system arrived today from Hobby City aka Hobby King aka United Hobbies.
It's a pretty big motor, about as large as my biggest boat motors. Looks well made. I read the reviews on H/C's website and it sounds like a winner. The ESC looks good on paper, hope it holds up well. I have had a lot of bad luck with some other ESC's I have purchased from other Hong Kong dealers and used in an airboat. Bought five, fried five.
I am attaching some other pictures of what came in the airplane box too. I think I am ready to start building this ARF. [sm=biggrin.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: VQ PILATUS PORTER PC-6 NEW COLOR SCHEME!
Well, so far I have soldered the gold connectors on the ESC, drilled my three props I bought to test on this motor, and made a test mount to hold the motor. Read the manual on the ESC and am charging up my DX7 so that I can set up and program the ESC. Then it will be test time out in the back yard. I have also been trying to read up and learn more about these electric power systems. I think I chose a good enough system. Reading about the cooling issues on the batteries and speed controls I believe I will have to open up some sort of slots in the bottom and sides of the fuselage to let hot air out. Might actually be able to make it look sort of scale like as the latest versions of the Turbo Porter have more vents and air intakes then before.
